Snohomish River Bass?

When I was a teenager (40 yrs ago) I use to fish the ponds and sloughs, between Marysville and Snohomish, for largemouth bass. Not only were there lots of bass but catfish as well. Since the Snohomish River has a habit of flooding the valley I keep wondering if the Bass and Catfish end up in the river system........Hmmmmm. Anyone out there ever try fishing the Snohomish River for Bass and Cats?

There are a few ponds in the flood plain that i have fished near Thomas' Eddy out near Cathcart and done real well for LM. A float tube or pontoon is a must, but have never tried on the river...they could be in there.

Low, whereabouts are these ponds? Are you talking about the Shadow Lake area?

We called them "Regan's ponds" all the fields between Marysville and Hwy 2. They all have ponds and oxbows and ditches. We use to nail the fish in there. You can even see some ponds heading north on I-5 just after you cross the Snohomish river bridge. They've all been flooded as well. I've never heard anyone claiming they have caught bass in the river but it makes me wonder.........

I caught bass in the Sno last year, in a little backwater spot. Took a break from fishing for Salmon and caught them on a little vibrex and a rooster tail. None of much size (1-2#), but they would hit about every other cast.

Travis- One of the ponds is Crescent lake just west of Duvall and there are a few more w/in a few miles north of that. If you search for Thomas' Eddy on the Snohomish and Google earth/MSN world view you will be able to see them. Most have public access, some from a park but most you have to walk about 1/2 mile. Never heard of the shadow lake area, but they could be them???

how about that pond you can see on your right as you cross the Snohomish river going to Monroe (Hwy 522)? Looks like there are two off Tester road. They have lilly pads lining the shoreline and look fishy as all heck.

The floods impact those ponds but a few have dumped plenty in there and its loaded with frogs and turtles as well the main River NOT!

I saw a guy sporting size:-# and a pony tail:albino: running wind sprints late many early evening towards the highway of death highway 2 just up around the Corner a bit!!!

Virtually every slough along the Snohomish system have largemouth and other spiny rays.

I have caught largemouth bass in both the Snoqualmie and Snohomish and seen them in the Pilchuck River. With the heavy snow melt run off lasting to mid-summer the fish that I have caught were in August and September after the flows dropped and more importantly the water warmed up some. While I caight those fish a number of years ago I doubt that things have changed much. I general I found that there were limited numbers of fish.
