Bass Scent?!?!

Why is it that when I buy a bag of Powerbait worms, there is no listed "flavor" on them, but if I go to buy a scent, there is a flavor on them? for example, garlic, shad, craw, etc? I know that these worms are scented, salted, or flavored, but which "flavor/scent" is not listed.
Really gets me kind of steamed, because I know what worms and scents I like, but don't know what "flavor" that worm really is? So, when I want to apply that to a crank bait or a jig, I am not sure which "flavor" to use.
I hate garlic because it reeks so bad, so count that one out.
Pretty stupid in my book....

Powerworms definetly have scent and flavor to them. Berkley is scent impregnated. Alot of plastics have salt in them. They smell normal in the package, but as soon as the fish bites it, yummy. Bite into a Senko, you'll see what I mean. mmm
If you are going to apply scent to a jig, crawfish would be a good choice

re-read my question. I know they have a scent, but what "scent" is it? Unlike sprays there is no "flavor" listed on the package.
trust me I know they taste bad!

Oh I gotcha. Berkley uses its own scent, and they don't tell you because its probably a trade secret. I wouldn't overthink it. What kind of scents are you using now ? I like Megastrike and Smelly Jelly. Used to use Kick'n bass, but that stuff is strong and can eat away at things, for example jig skirt collars and such.
I will put Megastrike on anything, but will usually wait for the berkley scent, or the "factory flavor" to wear off before I do.

this is a good topice that I brought up elsewhere... so if a berkley is already scented/flavored would it be a problem to give it a crawfish smelly jelly dip as well?? how much jelly do you use? have you tried 'bass feast?' what exactly is that supposed to mimmick???

I use scent on a regular , but my personal thoughts on scent may be a lil different than others . I mainly use scent to just mask the odor of my man scent ..lol I use mostly Megastrike ! i have fished with guys that have used smelly jelly and tons of other scents and i really havent seen one that makes to much of a difference . Im only looking for my scent to serve as an 5 second window of my plastic staying in there mouth , just enough time to set the hook . I do think that salt is a key factor in most plastics based on my personal experience . I wish i could purchase a salt impregnated crank bait , jerk bait , spinnerbait ..ooo you get the point !! salt rules over scent any day of the week

good stuff.
does megastrike come in different flavors?
I use smelly jelly for saltwater applications but not yet for freshwater.
I used this stuff "bang" I think over on a trip at banks lake and it was great...came in a windex type bottle with the trigger spray.
Thanks for the info guys.

Megastrike comes in a normal flavor, and a Gary Yamamoto version that is crawfish. I don't seem to like the crawfish, so I just buy the regular. Megastrike added some extra ingredients to the scent for 2009 ( thats what they say
) so if you buy a tube now it will be extra good.

Right on BBDez! I don't think scents
attract bass, but they will
mask other smells that bass would probably avoid. I've caught lots of bass & perch while using crayfish lunker lotion -- but the smell lingers on my hands until I take a shower. It's not a pleasant smell. My wife thinks it's down-right nasty.
Another good masking scent that leaves a less offensive aroma is mikes anise oil. It doesn't last as long as the thick scent products, but it doesn't really need to unless you frequently touch your lures.
Scent is less of a factor for fast-moving lures like spinner baits & crankbaits because they usually induce a reaction strike. Finesse baits like drop-shot plastics & weightless senkos definitely benefit from a little "juice".
There's one more thing you can do that will make a difference: Use a sunblock that does NOT have "fragrance" listed as one of the ingredients.
