Good looking fish. Not a lot of largies in the lake, but if ya know some spots and hit the prespawn, there are some good sized fish to be had...

Did you fish the NW event on Saturday? My partner and I got pounded. We spent 3 hours sight fishing to a couple of different 20 pound bags and couldn't get them to go. There were a ton of LM weighed in the tournament. The top 2 bags were both over 22 ounds and all green. I was shocked at how many LM I found in pre-fish. Very few guys talk about them like they do the SM but every year the guys that win that thing have at least a couple if not an entire bag. It could have something to do with the Seattle area love affair with the drop-shot. It would be pretty hard to find LM if you are always fishing in 200 feet of water with a 1.5 inch worm. That is a nice fish. She looks like she is going to pop. What tournament are you pre-fishing for?

Nice fish ! What was the weight ? Make sure to post it in the trophy board. FAT Azz 18 incher, I'm guessing 6.5.

Hey DCreek , Both David and myself were at the NWBASS tourney last saturday , im positive that he got this LMB pre fishing for that tourney . My partner got a 5.12 LMB in that event , as for drop shoting im thinking that if you can figure out a way to catch a limit of smallies year round on wa wa without picking up a drop shot you would win every tourney held on that lake ..lol ..How did you guys do out there last saturday ?

Good guess Chris, on my boga grip she was just at/maybe a little under the 6.5 line. And Dez is right DC, that fish was caught pre-fishing for the tourney, you can check out the report if you want the details. I know of several guys who were doing the same thing you were, which is staring at 20+ pound bags and just couldn't get them to go. That's painful, and I'm not sure which is worse, staring at them all day and not getting them to bite, or covering mass amounts of water and not seeing a single fish up shallow or getting a bite. Both are pretty high up on the frustration meter in my book! And then to see two 22 lb sacks brought in, that just leaves you scratching your head even more! My only fish came on a shaky head 2.7 Smallie, my partner never got a bite all day, and that was my only one....brutal!ChrisB wrote:Nice fish ! What was the weight ? BTW, I was right behind Dez in the weigh in line and that largie he weighed in was a beauty! Nice work from you and your partner Dez!:thumright

RE:Lake Washington Largemouth
I had a mentally retareded moment the morning of the event. We had the boat draw that everyone wanted and we wasted it. I believe we were the 11th boat out and 6 of the 10 boats in front of us went up the west side of Mercer. I should have audibled and went right into Newport and got a decent limit before hunting LM. I panicked when I saw all those boats heading up the west side and thought my fish would be sacked up if I didn't go there first.I was the 3rd boat in Newport last year and had almost 8 pounds on my first 2 casts. Dumb Dumb Dumb. The guy who won is a good friend of mine. He was the 47th boat out and left the canals with 14 pounds before he culled them all out with his LM. I caught a lot of LM in pre-fish and just assumed we could repeat that on Saturday. I had no intentions of fishing for SM at all. To make matters even more frustrating there were twice as many LM where we went than there were when I found them in pre-fish. They were mostly cruising when Iwas in there during pre-fish and I still caught a couple before I left. I only fished to a couple of them in pre-fish and they seemed pretty snappy for cruising fish. When we saw them holding and not cruising then the fact there were so many I was very excited. After a few hours my excitement level dropped significantly and my decision making went down hill from there. I am not a big fan of getting a limit and trying to cull up but that is probably what I should have done. You live and hopefully learn but I have no expectations of getting a good boat draw 3 years in a row at that place. The way this curcuit is growing there will probably be 110 boats next year. I was hoping to catch up with you guys at the drivers meeting but I got distracted by a guy wearing a leopard print jacket. Hopefully I will see you guys at the river next month.
