Clear water, I wouldn't call it bassy at all. Not too many weeds, but there are bass in there. Good luck.

A buddy told me he used to see a monster, described it around 6+ that swam under the public dock everyday. He said a guy caught it and took it home though and hasn't seen a big one since. Though there is more than one big fish in a lake, still sucks.

Without a boat, forget about it for bass. The only access for shore anglers is the dock and a bit of beach. Depending on the time of day, there could be fishing restrictions. There is a sign that clearly states this. Big bass in there fo sho.

I have seen people plane up on that lake, but I believe its a no wake lake. Keep it under 8mph til you know for sure.

i drove out there yesterday with my son and took a look the ramp is tiny and the water is pretty clear. looks like it would be pretty crowded with swimmers during the summer so i guess i ll roll the dice and try it thanks for the info everyone . theres a 8mph sign and no fishing from the dock after 12 pm and u cant even tie up to the dock well thats what sign said oh well rules rules always rules.

I haven't stopped by this year but I thought the dock fishing was only prohibited from something like 12pm - 6pm between Father's Day and Labor Day.

FF,..try Steel Lake in Federal Way,..a good spot 2 get the kid on some fish,..maybe even a Bass or 2,..the Launch is ok and there are no restrictions on time 4 fishing,..no combustibles though,..not sure if that's a problem 4 you,..a lil 12' Aluminum with a Transom Troller and you're in business! I second BB's comments. Steel Lake is great for planters within weeks of any plant, but more importantly, has produced some solid bass for me. While I have not fished her regulary in the last several years, I have not failed to hook into a few decent fish everytime I have been there. From 2000 to 2002 when I lived in that area, it was not uncommon for me to catch 3-5 LMBs in the 1-2 pound range over the course of a few hours. The last few times I have fished it, the bass were smaller on average, but the number of fish hooked increased. Try crawfish and/or perch colors as the lake seems to have good populations of both. Good luck, and post any reports you can.

Steel lake is NOT open year round, so better not go there quite yet. I think Steel lake is dead for numbers bass, but I guess I need to try it again a few times this year to make sure. Maybe it used to be good, but we'll see.

Let me know when ur ready chris , that lil lake has a 8+ with my hook still in her mouth .. Fish that lake all day without not a hit or a fish untill i got back near the launch and then it was on .. 4 min of heartstoping splashing, drag sreaming, rod bending of a time untill the line broke #-o ..

I told that fish that i will be back for my hook another day .. tuck the tail , lowered the head and went home cussing !!

I remember you posting about that. Totally sucks. I seen a fish on the other side of the lake that was all of 8, likely more. Theres more than one. I still think the lake sucks if you want to catch a limit tho :colors:

Yep, Steel Lake is still closed til opening day. It is my default lake and I have learned some of its traits.

I've caught my decent share of nice bass from Steel Lake. It has declined somewhat bass wise. Found two dead bass in the 3-4 lb range lying on the shore with no signs of abuse or cause for death. Sad sight to see for sure.

I believe that 5 mile is open year round and I know Dolloff is and there are big bass and crappie in there. Boat needed there also, unless you want to fish from the boat launch.
