Okay Boys this weekend is Bass Fishing Superbowl !! im interested to know who you guys think will come out on top this year .. My pick without question is MR K.V.D (no not you taggy)lol.... After coming off last year with A.O.Y award this dude has winning on his mind . Im also a big Rick Clunn fan aswell and i pick him to make top 5 .

BOSSIER CITY, La. — You'd think that after fishing 31 Classics and winning four of them, both records, Rick Clunn ought to have this thing down pat. Or at least have practice down pat.

But it's still fishing, in which even the masters falter. Even in practice.

Clunn was in his v-hulled aluminum jet boat exploring some of the many backwaters that the Red River's meandering has left over the years. The water's low enough right now that some of those pockets and ponds are inaccessible with anything but a light aluminum craft. Others are just barely reachable even with a light boat.

Clunn thought he'd found one of the latter, with only a stretch of perhaps 30 yards of shallow water to traverse. No sweat. He floored it. The boat slowed, slowed and stopped across before planting its nose into the muddy silt and, as a v-hull is wont to do, tilted to one side.

It was at that point that Clunn remembered he had left his cell phone in his truck.

The first tournament of the year is that way — discombobulated. He got out of his boat and into the ankle-deep water to survey his predicament. Pretty soon he found he couldn't budge the boat. "I knew nobody would ever come by," he said. "I knew I had to wade out to the river."

He put on his life preserver and grabbed his push pole. The water went to knee deep. "Then," he said, "the sand broke and I stepped in quicksand."

It was at that point that Clunn sank in all the way to his thighs.

If not for his life preserver and push pole, which he held perpendicular to his sinking body, he might have gone in deeper — and could have stayed there for quite a while. "If I couldn't have gotten out, it could have been 12 to 13 hours for them to send a search party," he said. "It might have been all night. That spooked me. That was the only time I felt a little more than just stupid."

The push pole saved him. With the hook at the pole's end, he reached a willow tree on a nearby island and dragged himself to safety. Then he waved his life preserver to flag down a boater from the main river channel.

The boater didn't recognize his hitchhiker until they returned to the marina.

"When I got out of the boat, he asked, 'Are you fishing the tournament this weekend?'" Clunn said. He thought briefly about saying no. Then he fessed.

"I said, 'Yeah, actually this'll be my 32nd,'" Clunn recalled. The man freaked out — he'd just saved Rick Clunn.

Clunn told him, "You can't tell a soul."

I had high hopes for Clunn too, but after reading he ran his boat into sand and about killed himself in quick sand I'm not sure now. LOL, no joke, check bassmaster.com.
I would love to see Iaconelli win it. I never rule out Mark Davis though.

Its a black-spotted bass fishery..so its gonna be alot of fish caught and you know KVD will cover it fast...Does anyone know the water temps there..just wondering how the masters are going to go at em..I would like to go out on a limb and say Steve kennedy..please bring me some bacon..

Spotted bass or "spotts" is what we called them in nashville are very plentiful however spots dont get very big . If an angler gets a 3lb spott thats a really nice fish , but it's gonnna take some "Hawgs" to get it done .. Man IMO Rick C is like bass fishing O.G. and even though he got wet during practice , like chris said you cant count him out .. Thats why im thinking top 5 fo sho .. But come man KVD called me last night to let me know i got the package of Bacon i sent to him and his exact words were "Dez these boyz are fishing for second place homie" ..after we laughed a bit i told him good luck and kick some BASS for me !!

I choose as my number one of course, KVD... After that, I choose Mike Laconelli, Timmy Horton, Skeet Reese, and Alton Jones. Remember though... KVD is my number 1... the rest, I don't care who wins. See Yal' Later!! :brilsmurf

Hey BB did you read that acticle in bassmasters mag . This chick fished a tourney with her "now" husband . He said that taht came back to the launch and was grabing fish out the live well when one of his fish went overboard . This chick drove in head first and came back up with the fish in her hands .. lol Dude he said after that he ask her to go to dinner with in him and that was the beginning of there realtionship .. TALK ABOUT A "RIDE OR DIE" CHICK ..WOW

Nope not yet .... Most of the pro's here in washington fish FLW .. i do know of a few that do B.A.S.S. Qualifiers .. kinda tuff for b.a.s.s. to compete against F.L.W due to the payouts the flw offers ..
