What is your guys fav crankbait I am looking to stock up for the next bass season.
Also what is your fav worms besides senkos

For me, in the past, while I was "Chuckin" my go 2 Crank was the Rapala Jointed Rap in Perch Pattern,..I have all the Patterns available,..but for the "small cranks" the Perch pattern bar none has out performed the rest,..as of the end of last season though I throw more Swimbaits then anything else,..I like the challenge of locating and catching the LARGER BASS,..the biggest Smallie caught on the Jointed-Rap was 3.5 lbs and the biggest LMB was 3.15 lbs! The Perch Pattern worked very well on WaWa where there is an abundance of Perch as far as other bodies of water just "Match-The-Hatch"!

to me a rapala isnt even a crankbait but a minnow plug. kinda like a jerkbait, i wouldnt call that a crankbait either. but thats just me.

i have fav cranks for different lakes. for silver i like the bandit 100 series the blue splatterback. for the lakes in king county i use a black and gold skeet reese crank that dives 6-10 feet. the most important thing in crankbait fishing. like most bass fishing tech is to make sure your lure is bumping structure.

for worms i like power worms, 7 inch+.

With respect to crankbaits, it depends. If the lake/river has any wood in it, then I prefer the Timber-Tiger cranks by Worden's because they come through wood great and also have a great action. For open water or weeds, either a lipless crank, a fat bodied crank. Minnow baits like Rapala follow. For worms, after senko-type bait, is a ribbon-tail worm/grub. Brand is less important than color.

yeah, jerkbait rip bait pretty much the same thing. that perch pattern does look really good though.

Bandits are good quality crankbaits, they usually swim well out of the packets and the finish can handle the punishment. They do have a more muffled rattle sound.

I like using strikekings eventhough I don't care for quality, the finishes comes off pretty easy and sometimes you need to tune them out of the package. The rattles are louder and a tighter wobble than bandits. I've had more luck with strike kings.

My favorite colors are fire tiger, crawfish, and blueback with a white belly. If I had to choose one color for an unknown lake, I'd use firetiger.


If you want to dropshot, I like using sniper snubs, robo worms and I'm using some of the berkley gulp products.

Ok,you guys can give me the finger(lol) because you've heard me say it way to many times.
The Rapala X-Rap has delivered/produced so many bass for me in '08 and I hope it will continue
into '09,granted,most were average but I had a few hefty's in the mix.
As for worms...I'z got 2 get me sum beta skilz(its a work in progress)

What about the rapala DT series? those are certainly crankbaits. anyways one to try would be bombers. they make several different styles and most have good hooks, good paint, and run true.

There are a lot of good crank baits, so you can define crank bait as you wish and I can suggest some.

Nevertheless, I find I have a lot of the Fat Free Bombers, lots of Jointed Shad Raps and their Cabela's imatators, several Rattle Traps, with a few of just about everything else tossed in.

I have two of the chrome/black ones and I've caught fish every time I've used it, in both sunny conditions and wind/rain. It actually works better in wind conditions from my past experience, but it also produces when the lake looks like glass.

Joe's usually sells these cheap at their tent sales. Keep an eye out for them next time there's a tent sale - I got both of mine for like 3 bucks each.

I like the big cranks natural colors and the cuprit 10-12 in worms black has got to be the best color then junebug, grape shad, green pumpkin, goard green. Also try plastic craws T-riged.

For worms the 5" Zero in watermelon w/ red flake was my best last year. I moved to the Yamamoto creature and am thinking it should get hit a bit. Well I am hoping anyways. I also picked up some craws to try this t-rigging and to be trailers on the jigs. WCCT hooked me up on their new craw trailers ... boy do they look sweet.

Bomber Crankbaits have shown me allot of love last year, my personal bests have been caught on them.

My favorite crank is a Fat Free Shad in Tennessee Shad color. Caught a lot of fish with that one. Next would be a Bomber Model A in Baby Bass. I got away from worms the last several years due to the amount of other plastics available. I need to start that back up and not limit myself. I do toss a lot of Yamamoto 5 in grubs rigged weedless.
