Hey.

Any of you guys know when downs lake starts to get good action? just wonderin if anyone would know! :brilsmurf

I believe last year was the first year of the "early" opener on Downs. I did not fish it then, so I cannot comment about how it was that early, but..........................

In the past years, the fish were already hitting strong by the early opener on Downs, so I hope this helps you plan. Downs is very shallow, very weedy, so it warms faster then the other lakes in the area.

Correct, last year was the first for early opener. I fished it once during that time and I thought it was great. I have been fishing the lake for about 14 years and never have I seen the lake without pads besides last year. Unfortunately my battery wasn't fully charged so it was a quick trip. If they open early this year, bring a few crappie colored spinner baits, that's all you'll need.

you are right. I for some reason was under the impression that it wasn't going to open early again this year. I am also coming to the realization that time flies when you get older! I would imagine that the lake is still frozen over. Best bet is to call the resort and get some info.
