Lake Joy

I am looking for a change of scenery and dont want to fish beaver lake. Would the smallmouth be biting in Joy. Any advice will be appreciated

No dout those mean lil smallies are biting @ joy Fishnmach ... When you launch just go to the right and get out in 40ft and cast toward shore .. there is a nice ledge right there that sits in 15ft and drop to 30ft , those smallies hang up there year round and can be easily caught ..I suggest throwing a dropshot (bright color baits) or carolina rig (lizards) and i like starting with slow rolling a rattletrap to determine there staging dept ...Hopefuly this is helpful , have fun out there .. BTW keep an eye out for black bears and cougars while coming down that tral !! (Have fun )

I have never been there. I did read some past reports, I'm sure Dez will give us the 411 on the launch. Sounds like its a float tube kinda lake, with a 200 feet walk to the launch, something like that.

I've asked a member here and he says its do-able with two people. Everyone would have to help carrying stuff and vise-versa. I looked on WDFW to see if its open year-round and I can't even find the lake.

May want to air up the tube and paddle around a bit out there ... but may pick on some of the lakes a little closer to me.

Okay chris it's like this , yess as the other member advised there is a little walk from the road to the launch .. However as long as you have two people this is all possible .. I luv going to this lil lake in the summer , and i tellin ya man those smallies in there like to fight , and 2lb'r will pull like he is a 3+ .. i have never been there this time of the year , but i know those fish are easily catchable .. chris give me a call if you guys need anything else about the lake .. have fun and stay safe .. The trail is no problem; just don't leave anything at the end of it. The one time I was there I left a pair of Teva's and a six-pack of soda in the bushes near the shore, and somebody stole them

Maybe it was the 12ft creature???

Great lake for smallies and I have caught decent largemouth out of Joy as well. Nothing monsterous, but great fighters for sure. Almost seems like when you stick one that it is the first time that bass has ever been hooked.
The first time I fished this lake I drove around it twice before I found the trail. If you don't know exactly where to go and park, you will miss it. As far as taking a boat, I don't know. It can be done but you'll need to turn it on it's side which will mean a couple of trips for gear, motor, battery, etc...
Hopefully it has been trimmed back a little and with it being winter the shrubbery will be dead. It was tough the last time I went with just a float tube walking down the trail.
I'd recommend a float tube. But this time of year a boat would be nicer just to be out of the water. Best of luck to you guys and besides the spot BBD mentioned there are two docks down the right side of the lake in about 30ft. of water. If I remember one has a diving board or slide on it. Hug those and D-Shot all around them and out towards the middle of the lake bringing your bait back slowwwwly.

I've seen a MAMMOTH of a bass jump completely out of the water and land....my boat was about 20 ft away and the slash still hit my buddy and I. Anout the boat...Launch(?) there, if you want to call it that...My Buddy and I had a boat we put it...around 8ft, and it was more of a mess getting out and unloading. Lets just cutt he story short and I'll admit it...I fell in! HAHA it was good times in the summer time!

ONLY THE FISH CAN ANSWER THIS QUESTION , FOR NO ONE AS POSTED ANY RECENT REPORTS ON THAT LAKE .. AND YES IT IS A YEAR ROUND LAKE .. YOU GUYS WILL NOT HAVE ANY PROBS FINDING THEM . IF ANYTHING IT WILL BE MORE TIME FINDING THE HAWGS !
