I fished on lk samm the last time we had that heat wave come through her a few weeks back .. And if someone called me @ home and said that they were catching fish non stop in less than 10ft of water in the middle of the day , unless my caller id said "KVD" i would have hung up on them ... .

But that was the case , that day was one of my better days this year and the big fish was a 4lb LMB .. I say this to get you in the mind state that "don't let weather" dictate you time on water ...This time of year you have the ability to fish anyway style ,rigg, bait you want to throw .. My suggestion is to start as early as possible and go with top water for the first 1/2 hour on the lake , from that point try cranks , rattletraps ,spinnerbaits (work'm fast) ... as the day goes on convert to plastics jigs,dropshots, c-rigging, t-rigg , etc .. Work the points off the main lake channels , work rip raps that offer quick drop offs into deep water .. Keep the boat moving as much as possible untill you get into a good group of keeper fish .. Meaning if your first two fish from a spot are dinks (crank that out board and get moving) ...

Remember natural colors really works great on blue bird days and once you find fish (slow down your retrives) ...Have fun a pack a can of Sunblock ..lol ..

Definitely follow BBD's advice. Docks that extend out over deep water are also great during hot days, and anywhere that may have cooler water coming in such as where a river enters the lake. I have also had some great days fishing dense pad fields adjacent to deep water on hot days.

Fish after midnight until mid-morning.

Fish under heavy cover.

Fish deep!!!

I would follow everyone eles advice wait until it cools off and fish deep for them thats where I have had my best luck

I'm heading out to Chapman for bass late Sat. afternoon to fish into the evening. There will be a full moon and the night temps should be in the high 70's. Will the full moon help when using poppers along the shores and stumped areas?

Work the poppers in a steady cadence as that will draw the bass toward the sounds. Another tip; use dark colors to contrast the moonlight. Afterall, you already got them looking up toward the popping sound.

Hey Marc,..try and use something that is dark,..staying away from any light as to hide your imperfections in your presentation,..we all have them,..LOL,..a silouette of bait is perfect,..do like cavdad said,..we'll be {bassfanatic and I} doing some night fishing of our own next Sat @ Potholes,..we won't have the Full Moon as you do but it should be fun! It should be a fun evening. Going out with Dave Hall. One of the flies that I will be using is the Umpqua Pike Fly.

It has a good popping sound and floats exceptionally well. Mike Grahm this spring got a couple of nice large mouths on it when we were casting for Tiger Muskies. The bass just slam into that fly. Scared the begeebers out of Mike on one take. He thought at first it was a Muskie by the explosion in the water during the take.

Even if we don't do well, a quiet warm moonlit night on the water will be great. Something to think back to when the snow is falling.:shaking:

A jitterbug can also be VERY effective at night. Retrieve it nice and slow and occasionally stop and let it sit for at least 5 seconds. Like the guys said before, stick with dark colors.

This was a deadly technique in Missouri, but I have not done much night fishing here in WA.

If you're fishing in relatively shallow water that has lots of cover, try a texas-rigged senko. At night, dark colors are always better -- black being the best because it presents the most distinct silhouette.

I use to fish 100 degree days back in Michigan during the dog days of summer. Two patterns that worked for me, first what everyone else is pretty much saying fish the deeper weed line. I had luck with jig-n-pigs and 10-inch power worms. Next was fishing the heavy slop cover and deeper lilly pads. I had good luck throwing rubber rats and frogs. Other then that, this is a good month to do night fishing, I'm not fond of it, due to the safety situation, but they do feed at night, usually the big ones.

I fished this weekend in Yakima, was over 100 each day. Had best luck with chart. spinnerbaits early morn. and black/blue skirted jig thru the shallows. Only caught 2 but had several on the line and chasing.

Today looks like a GREAT day to fish. Cloudy & cool w/ very light wind. There's a storm front moving in which may produce thundershowers later. We also have a full moon -- which seems to improve fishing, not sure why...

These are IDEAL conditions for fishing, but I've got to work.

A few months ago I was unhappy about not having a job. Now I have a job, but don't have much time to go fishing...

I hit the lake this saturday - after my engine wouldn't start, I dropped it off at a local repair shop (sick of messing around with it!) So I didn't get my lure into the water till about 11:00 am. Worms T rigged seemed to be the best option, but I used a rapala popper on the top - shallow as I could get it, and had just as much luck.

Much more fun to start popping that thing and...glooosh, gone!

I fished from around 11 - 2 with consitant action. Bass were shallow!

I always hear the convential knowledge about starting shallow then working deep as the temp rises, and maybe it's just the way I fish... but I always catch bass super shallow when it is hot as hell.

Just got off of the water...I'm soaked, but for the hour I was out there, I had 3 in 3 consecutive casts!!!!! Oh yeah.

Is that 3 days in a row too? No wonder you're skipping out on the Potholes trip!

In the heat of the day I go to crank baits deep divers 11'-16' deep. Even a lake thats only 4'-6' use a crank thats dives to that depth. Work them slow.
