Algae question

The lake I fish most of the time always has an algae on it in the summer. This year they have treated it for weeds 3 times, the last being August 3rd. The fishing has been very slow this year, with fish hard to locate and no big schools of Crappie or Perch, and only a few Bass have been caught.
The algae is a thick green layer on top of the water but I noticed when the boat goes through it there is a slimy brown layer below the green. Also, I have noticed that the water is very foamy when stirred up.
My question is: What affects will this have on fishing, and how bad and for how long do the weed treatments mess with the fishing. Here's a pic. of the algae. Thanks

I've fished a few lakes that had this. I don't think it really has an effect on the fishing, it's just hard to get through that stuff since it's so thick. And I'm guessing that lakes Duck Lake that you're talking about?

You would be guessing right. I sure can't find any fish this year, I'm not sure if it's because of the algae/weed killing or the lousy weather. The lake is usually a lot warmer this time of year
