The Gameplan
I've never really given this much thought before, but I was just thinking about what I'm going to do when I go out fishing this weekend and I'm wondering if anyone else does the same. How many of you plan out what you're going to do before you get to the lake? Do you do things like plan a route, select your lure, tactic, time of day you'll switch to something new, etc? I suspect that the good anglers are able to switch things up at just the right times to keep them on the fish. What types of things do you take into consideration when forumlating your plan? Or do you not concoct a plan at all?

RE:The Gameplan
Plans are always made ahead of time. First off and most important is the where, what lake and what launch. Time of day is usually when god wakes up. Now as far as on the lake, it's whatever is presenting itself at the time, logs, lily's, weeds, trees, etc etc. With the baits/lures I usually have about 4 poles with me when I'm bassing. One set for cranks, only for spinners, one for plastics and one for live bait. That way I can switch in a hurry if need be. After fish are caught, plans change depending on what they are going after, such as colors or scents or just retrieval speed. And then comes the part of when to go home... I say never but most people say when they've stopped biting.

I usually get ready the night before an outing,..selcting platics and hardbaits,..tying to lines,..preparing food,..drinks,..snacks,..hooking up boat,..I guess I have a routine,..about the only thing that changes is time when I leave and what type of bait to use,..but I almost always leave at the "Buttcrack of Dawn",..usually I always check the recent reports (if any) on the body of water that I'm fishing in,..then when I wake all I have to do is wash up,..get my coffee,..kiss the wife and kids and I'm out the door! WOOHOO!

RE:The Gameplan
My plan is to catch fish. I think more of where I'm going. The lures, Plastics and jigs the biggest thing is color.
Are you hung up again!

RE:The Gameplan
This time of year I plan on going really early and have fast baits (swimbaits, hardbaits, topwaters) all rigged up! When the fish tell me it's too hot then I tie on all my soft plastics!
RE:The Gameplan
I thought my wife and I were the only ones who called it the buttcrack of dawn LOL
I usually plan where to go, Google Map it and zoom in the check out any specific structure I can find, and then get a game plan based on what I can see off the satellite. Once I get there that might change, but at least I have a solid idea of what I'm expecting to see and fish.
