What about frogs? Any Bassers out there have any sucsess with frogs? I have but 1 in my arsenal and I skipped it across some lily pads but came up empty,..I tried this for about 20 minutes without a strike,..it skipped really nice over the pads and looks very realistic when in the water,..I figured with the bite gettin ready for some top water action the frog might work well,..anyone out there with some knowledge on this? Thanks to all!

Frog baits will catch fish I like to use them in the morning! What I do is cast them out and let them sit for a few seconds then slowly work them stopping every 15 feet or so.

I have about 7 different types of frogs in my box. The Mann's Hardnose frogs are my favorite. The thing I like most about them is when you stop retrieving them they'll slowly sink with a nice wobble from side to side, just like a real frog. I've probably had as many hits when it does that slow sinking wobble as I do when I'm bringing it through the pads.

And they must look pretty realistic - I've had real frogs attack it

I have used frogs for years! Got my first frog bass for the year at munn lake last month. Swim frogs are really good near the pad edge. I usually work them slow earlier in the morning and faster as it warms up but nothing beats seeing a bass jump out of the lillies for a frog. Main tip is to feel the fish before you set the hook!

take this to heart and dont set the hook when you see the splash.. I did that a few weeks ago and lost the chance to land a nice one

The frog is a fast but slow swimmer;I catch quite a few in one of the lakes I fish. They seam to eat worms,the biggest I've caught was 2ft long. We just eat there legs.lol!

Hey trent, please dont be eating those guys! most people dont know it but they are rapidly becoming endangered, not yet but it's coming. the only places I really see a large pop of bulls in private lakes or hard to get to places, i'm sorry but i'm a bullfrog lover and hate to see them disappear

I haven't had frog legs sence I've moved to Wa. over 12 years there not all that! As far as being endangered I don't know about that. There every where up here in Kitsap. And in the south I don't think they would ever get endangered. I think many are eaten by birds,fish,and those fish eating otters. Save a fish kill an otter!

Well down here in lewis co. they are rare! there is not alot of them left but I have seen a few more in recent years compared to 10 years ago. as for the otter some body who has a private pond I know has lets say recycled one of those.

just a FYI..

bullfrogs are not native to washington. in fact, they are not even native to any state this side of the mississippi. now i love frogs too, and this is not a reason to kill them randomly, but they were actually introduced as a food species....
they are competing with native frogs, and from what i read, doing quite well. when i last left the midwest, there was a big hoo-doo about the bullfrog. they eat a lot and are out-competing native frogs all over the west and midwest.

to bad you can't use live frogs....i used to do that all the time as a kid (in another state) and wow...lots-o-fish like a live 3 inch frog.... :bounce:

Hey rollin... I know they are not native, and we are having a little trouble in my bro's little pond, his pond is full of western red legged frogs and the bf is eating them, all I was saying is in lewis county they need to stop the unting of them because they are getting scarce, the only places they are, are whereI planted them and cannot be hunted or priv. property or hard to get to places but I have noticed in the last couple years they are coming back a little bit.

I understand that the Bullfrog is highly invasive and has been responsible for decimating local frog populations (from tree frogs to red-legged) as the "Other Rolland" reports in his FYI.

Fortunately, we have our artificial frogs to toss around to attract MR. Bass' attention . . .

I have not read to the end of the post, so maybe you have already been told. Bullfrogs are not native to Washington.

Some fisheries managers blame them for the loss of our native, and quite small, frogl. FYI, if you want to eat frog legs, go for it, it may actually help.

When I was a kid we used to sight fish for bullfrogs. We'd look for them lounging around weed mats and cast a big red and white bobber with a treble hook under it into the weeds. All you had to do was hook the weeds and just wiggle the bobbler. Those bullfrogs would pounce on it and inhale the whole thing. It was hilareous.

Did the same thing at a dam when I was a kid. .lowered the bobber over the edge down to the liliy pads and watched while the frogs moved in to pounce on it. Shows you how aggressive they are!

yeah all this bulls aint native to wash, we neither are lm bass so should we kill all of them and throw all them up on the bank and keep them too? they do eat alot of trout fry and other native fish around here, so we should poison all the lake to rid them because they are not native right?

Easy breezy: if you want some bull frogs ease this way and I'll put you on the mother load and restock your bro's pond. There easy to catch and you will not hurt the pop. Please don't kill the bass,unless theres a fish fry involved.lol keep it cool.
