While fishing with Trent today I brought up the topic of fishing on golf courses. I know not many people fish them compared to public bodies of water. Anyways how would one go about doing this? Do you need to be mission impossible and sneak in, do you just mossie on in and set up shop, or do you call ahead and see if they'll give you permission? Just wondering because I want to try out new things and places.

it wouldnt hurt to ask
if you dont ask, i would say the risk is greater than the reward. look at it this way, you wouldnt want someone off the streets using strolling through your backyard in the middle of the night.
you are on private propery, and simply not asking for permission... well you get my drift.
when i was younger, we found a farmers pond that was stocked with monster fish. not knowing it was on private property, as it was adjacent to a river, we fished it. a couple trips later, the owner comes and gives us a talk. luckily for us he was very kind to us. he allowed us to fish his property for many years.
here is another senario... have you ever run into those nasty dock owner who will not let you near their shoreline or their dock, even though the water is fair game? no imagine that same situation, but put yourself in the golf course. you are on foot with gear to boot. someone is bound to get caught.
i dont know what the punishment for tresspassing is, but in some states fishing crimes = tickets and sometimes loss of equipment.

good point t-dot. trespassing is a criminal offense and you can be arrested for it.

I'll fish the place your talking about but only befor day light or right at dark as long as there are no golfers around to use there cell. Most are cool with it and out there your not on the course only about 20 ft the rest are woods and houses with no docks they cant even get down too the lake from there yards.
I'll let you know how it is out there tomorrow! We hit the course pond yesterday and got skunked two guys came up and said yea, theres big ones in there. The weather was bad so thats why I think we didn't get anything. We did see some and we missed a few they didn't act to active.
