I use to fish in lakes with small amounts of smallies, tough to actually target them. Best advice is to look for them in the spawn, beds that are deeper and further away from shore (compared to largies).
Other then that, cover water and fish deeper, crawfish colored crankbaits or carolina rigs.

As usual I have no real advice to lend in the bass department. But would consider more of this......
Are there bass gods? or just fish gods?

We have seemingly done the best against smallies by covering vast amounts of water pulling cranks behind the boat. When you troll, you can locate the fish, then stop and attempt to work the area. This will give you a general inkling as to where the fish are. Bear in mind that their positions change throughout the year due to water conditions, food availability, and temperature. Once a spot has died off, go back to a large area troll, see what you pick up, and work the new areas. This is reliant on time on the water, but it is well worthwhile.

Smallies will hang in diferent areas through out the season.Keeping in mind they like moving water unlike the LMB who likes no current. This time of year in lakes they should hang around creeks that feed the lake.

I was thinking of joining one this year, but I'm always too busy for the schedule. I can only fish here locally. There's a bunch of lakes in Washington I'd love to fish.
