Fivemile Lake, South King

Anyone having any luck as of recently. Last summer I pulled 5 LMB's out of here. I was thinking about hitting it this weekend but this lake is shore and dock fishing only. So basically I'm wondering with this crazy weather if I should put forth the effort of trying to bring in my first bigmouth of the year. I have no idea what the lake temps are but I'm assuming its still fairly cold. And any luck with catching a bass,I'd think a lure would have to be right in his face. Any ideas?

I was out there (Five Mile) a couple weeks ago putting around on the pontoon and the water temp. was right around 46F...has been warmer since, but I'd bet the water temp. is around 50F or so.
I'd like to make some rounds of the docks around there to see if I can fool anything into tripping over my jig....
Good luck!

It's definitely not too cold. Chris B was catching a bunch of big LM way back in March.

I lost a nice bass (at least 5 lbs.) at 5 mile last year. Did catch and release allot of bass that day.

I may hit some other lakes. Kapowsin is great but I hate fishing with paranoia..."I hope my car is still there when I get back"
Kinda ruins the pleasure of fishing.

It was better before the boat ramp was put in!

Today I thought I'd take my son and nephew up to five mile or trout lake. Any tips on fishing from shore? At Five Mile,I try to fish the lilly pads to the north but often find it taken by other anglers and my boat is down in Mason County....so basically..not here. My target would be bass.
Thanks again:salut:

When we doing the Mason lake trip haha. I've never fished fivemile from shore, but really want to, boat or shore. I would probably try 4 inch or bigger zoom lizards, worms, maybe even a drop shot with 10 lb test. Don't rule out spinner baits or cranks either. I only been to fivemile once to look around, water looked DARK. Try dark colors, maybe junebug.

You still want in? I'm aiming for mid-July or August. I would have put something together already but been busy with the bills, fishing and god knows what else.
Thanks for the info, with the crappy weather. I'll try tomorrow, for sure by this weekend.
The water here is very dark...iron maybe? I'm not a biologist but I've wondered why its like this, the water is more like crimson.

I too have noticed that about the water there. I'd love to go with you guys, but I broke my right ankle about a week ago. I won't be doing any fishing for at least 2 months.
Kevin, what colors do you use at 5 mile? I've only gone about 5 times total and the only thing I ever caught was a fingerling trout on a drop shotting earthworm colored robo.
There are big fish there and a boat is perhaps the best bet. DT kicks this lake's fanny.

That sucks,if you got a wheelchair..I'll push ya'. Hell,...ok I'll carry you.(If you want me too:-" )
I usually toss spinnerbaits(white, chartreuse and a blue at times)but I've lossed a few in the pads. I then go to my cranks(Rapalas)Countdowns, huskyjerks but I picked up a few X-Raps and was doing alright at Silver(Spokane)I wouldn't mind tossing some in here or Trout Lake. I need to expand by bass gear,I have a handful of plastics and smaller handful of swimbaits.
