P-Line, 6lb-12lb depending on what technique you will be using.

I have the 8 lb. vanish on my spinning rod I like it but it doesn't compare in strength to 8 lb. p-line! Both are good lines but I am going to go back to p-line next time

+1 for P-Line...I like CXX in Moss Green. 8lb test seems to work real good for about anything, and casts well for lighter lures and weightless plastics...the CXX is a lot stronger then the lb. test on the box...fishnislife wrote:P-Line, 6lb-12lb depending on what technique you will be using.

Always read from tons of people, if you use berkley vanish, your fish will vanish. Sorry Casey. I don't use enough flouro, but I run 8-10 lb Gamma co-polymer on my spinning reels. Seaguar Invisinx flouro for me.

Definitely prefer p-line over vanish. P-line is worth the extra bucks. P-line is more abrasion resistant and better knot strength.

RE:What line do you suggest for Bass fishing
i really really dislike vanish. ande, p-line, izorline, and suffix all seem to work great. i mostly fish 8 pound on my spinning rods, but sometimes 6 and sometimes 10.
RE:What line do you suggest for Bass fishing
I use Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft for Spinning, and regular for my baitcasters. 8lb for spinning, 12lb for the others. Works great.
RE:What line do you suggest for Bass fishing
I've talked with some local bass fishermen who love McCoy line. I've yet to see it in a store, I heard OE might have it. I'm still looking for it to try it out....

Thanks Everyone.
Looks like I have some line options to go thru when I go shopping
I will also look into buying some plastics to round out my arsenal.

I've seen McCoy at OE and Sportco.Sam Kafelafish wrote:I've talked with some local bass fishermen who love McCoy line. I've yet to see it in a store, I heard OE might have it. I'm still looking for it to try it out....
I use P-line floroclear in 6, 8, and 12. I'll probably buy some Gamma to try while it's still available locally.

I got tired of big bass busting off my quality 8 pound mono and taking off with my Rapalas so I went to Power Pro braided 15 pound test. It has a very small diameter, casts great and you can play hard ball with those big pot bellied pole benders.

A nice bass is too valuable a resource to enjoy catching only once.

After trying 5 different Flouros in the last two years, I have settled on 8# Sugoi. For a flouro, it is very limp and 'memory' issues were the least of all five I tried. The worst I tried.... Vanish. Never cursed a line more. Within four months I got rid of all of it!I would like to try Berkleys new Flouro though.

I use p-line 8lb. Way worth the extra couple bucks.:thumleft:kzoo wrote:Definitely prefer p-line over vanish. P-line is worth the extra bucks. P-line is more abrasion resistant and better knot strength.

RE:What line do you suggest for Bass fishing
What knots do you use with vanish? I've found that some knots do not work well with fluorocarbon. Improved clinch and trilene knots are definitely not as strong with fluoro as they are with mono. I use a knot tying tool for snell knots and mooching rigs (double snelled hooks facing opposite directions), and fluoro is definitely weaker. I can snap a snell knot tied with 10 lb fluoro by giving it a quick jerk. I can't break a snell knot tied with 10 lb mono no matter how hard I jerk.bigbasstaz wrote:I have the 8 lb. vanish on my spinning rod I like it but it doesn't compare in strength to 8 lb. p-line! The only knot I use with fluorocarbon is the palomar. IMHO the palomar is more versatile than any other knot. It works great on braid, fluoro, and mono. Not sure what knot is best for connecting a fluorocarbon leader to another type of line. I always just use a swivel with a palomar on both ends. (You have to connect the leader first, then pull the leader and swivel through the loop on the mainline.)

Thanks for the line suggestions guys!
I stopped at Joe's yesterday and picked up 8 LB "P -LINE" CXX / MOSS GREEN
and also Red Cajun line in 9 LB.
I noticed some fish caught pics in here with Senkos... how do you rig them and what are the best colors and length.

2 O hook and no weight for the senko! Add a split shot 1-2 feet up if you are fishing a little deeper cover! A lot of people wacky rig them I will leave that info up to people who fish that style:cheers:Outdrsguy wrote:Thanks for the line suggestions guys!
