Use the [img] tags
so take the link to your picture:
for example
http://www.fishpics.com/fish.jpg (<--i just made that up not a real link)
and put that address the [img] tags that show up when you click the little icon above that looks like a mountain and a sun (6th one over from the bold
B)

no that means its just on your computer, but it has to be uploaded somewhere on the internet first - then linked to it.

I do the photobucket stuff. Easy for me because I like having most of my pictures online to share with others and it's just as easy as copying the IMG code and then pasting it into these reply boxes

It is sort of special (short bus special) how you post pictures here.
1. Type your post (text only) and click post.
2. Go back to that post and click attach (upper right of your post with red thumb-tack icon) you will get a prompt box to enter the location of the file on your computer. Browse to it and click upload.
3. Your picture should now be on the post. Remember to shrink the photo for the web, otherwise it may not upload

I croppped the photo and it was still too big to upload. So I changed it from a jpeg to a bitmap but it still didn't work.
So I threw my laptop out the window.

if you open it in paint. go to image at the top then stretch/skew make it 60 in horizonatal and verticle then save as into a jpeg format that usually works.
then upload like dilbert or bpm said, both ways work but with bpms way you have to use a photo hosting site.

some applications, like photoshop, have a "save for the web" feature that reduces resolution and physical size of the photo to reduce the file size.

I open my photo with Irfanveiw (free photo program from the web) then go to image at the top of the program and select resize/resample. It gives me lots of options for sizing. I save it as a copy of called ___resize. Then I do as dilbert said.
