I've known about the wacky rig for quite some time but have never tried it. Is it a productive method and worth trying?

I like it for senkos . Drop shot rig mainly.

A wacky-rigged senko under a bobber can be deadly when the wind is blowing. Small waves give it great action, plus the wind makes it drift.

Alright sounds like one of those last resort set ups.

For me. I don't want to deter anyone from trying it. Go for it. This is just my experience with it. Others may tell you differently.
I would say if your interested in it, dedicate a day to throwing it. See how it works out for you, could become a go to technique for you. I lack confidence in it, that's all.

It's a good rig to use on beds.

wacky rigging is my go to rig for senkos. far better than a texas rig if theres not alot of weeds. i also really like the plucky rig. (wacky rig with a piece of pencil lead in one side) imatates a bait fish feeding on bottom.

Give these hooks a try......rigged with a stick bait (senkos) or a shaky worm and you'll be suprised

In its true basic form, I have not had any luck with it, although I like its action.

However, I have had success with it on a wacky rigged drop shot.

The exposed hook can make it a pain when fishing cover like grass and such. I am going to experiment with wacky rigging with a jig head as opposed to just a regular hook alone. I believe the name for that is flick shaking, but it is just a wacky rig with a jighead.

It can be absolutely DEADLY against lilly pad edges when nothing else seems to be drawing them out.

Have had luck when the cranks, jigs, and tubers aren't producing.

They also seem to get a really hard reaction strike for some reason, not little gentle taps.

I've done well dead sticking a wacky rig in the past. Last time I used one I made a first fish bet and landed one on the first cast! Not bad.

Sorry to stray away from bass. But if take a large pink hoochie, rip of one of the legs and rig it wacky style on a size 6 hook. It kills the pink salmon.
