Northwest Fishing Reports

I was wondering if anyone has heard if stripers are making there way into any of the Columbia tributaries in washington. I know they have been showing in larger numbers in a couple of Oregon's rivers. I fished these fish in Chesapeak Bay and they are a blast, But, we really don't need another preditory fish at the same time they are huge and fight well.

I love fishing Stripers too, it's been awhile though. I remember catching em at a Dam on the Louisianna side of Toledo Bend Awsome fishing. Would be pretty neat if we had them here!

We do in the Columbia numbers are growing my buddy caught one last year so I had to see for myself and he took me to his spot and we caught 3.

Any size to em taz?

2 between 3 and 4 and one small one.
My buddy won't let me say where but we were dropping whole night crawler he caught fist one going for cat fish . We got a 10 pound channel cat that day.

I had heard that a few were showing up as well. I assumed the water would be a bit too cold for spawning, so maybe it will keep the numbers down and they won't compete with the Salmon and Steelhead.

After all, the other California transplant, the Sea Lion, does enough damage already.

And I have not even brought up 100 mile foreign fishing nets and factory ships yet.

I understand these fish are spawn wanderers, in that they spawn in the general area to wich they were hatched not nesaserally the same stream, so they eventually can spread. 30 yrs ago they were only found in the sacremento system and quickly found there way to the columbia. I have heard of them being caught near boniville. These fish are from the east coast and are found to spawn as fare north as Maine. Our rivers are warmer then the rivers in maine and the time of year they spawn is considerably warm. Note: Steelhead and Salmon spawn in the sacremento.
