Correct me if I am wrong, but won't the boats still be able to launch on the old highway next to the entrance of the Mossyrock Park? I know that it would be difficult, but not impossible. We are going to be camping down there the first week of April, and I am going to definately bring my boat.

The mossyrock entrance should be good.It doesn't have that severe drop like Taidnapam. Hopefully someone on here, has been down there recently and can shed some light.

"Riffe Lake is usually at flood control level—740 ft.—this time of year, but not this year. Work continues on the new boat launch at the east end of the lake so the lake is at 695 ft. elevation and will remain there until the launch is completed. Tacoma Power feels that keeping this low elevation will also help prevent any major flooding due to a combination of storms and the snow melt, considering the unusually large amount of snow in the mountains. Extreme caution should be used if you plan on bank fishing as getting down to the water can be hazardous. None of the boat launches are useable.

Dose not matter how big and bad your truck is your not getting down to the water, was there 2 weeks ago and the water is the farthest i have ever seen it in 10years,i grew up in morton and have fished riffe for along time

Thats correct no way to get boat to the water,if you can take a drive out there first or plan on some bank fishing, which is quite a walk down now,if you have ever been to the dam on hwy12 side and walked down the steps well about another 60-70ft below them is the water line

Is this information still current? Water level? Useable boat launches?
Thanks

Riffe Lake (11,830 acres):

On Monday, Mar. 24, Riffe Lake was at 700 feet elevation, two feet higher than last week, now 78 feet below full level of 778 feet. This low water condition has exposed a lot of bank usually underwater and, with an article written in the local paper, many people are visiting the lake. A reminder - it is unlawful to artifact hunt on the Cowlitz Wildlife Area and, furthermore, a permit is required to remove any resources natural or cultural.

Boat Launches: No boat launches are now useable. The Mossyrock Park, Kosmos, Taidnapam Park and the new Taidnapam North launches are not usable. However the parking lot at Taidnapam North is open.

Riffe is open for fishing year-round.

Well,
I could not talk the family out of going camping down there this weeend, so I am just going to have to run over to Mayfield or Swafford pond and get my fishing fix in. Oh well, I will still try to launch at the old road near the Mossyrock park entrance if possible......Thanks for the info!

Uuugghh!!!](*,) The towns of Mossyrock and Morton must be getting screwed. Thats alot of tourist dollars not being generated. I would have been down there several times by now. Thanks for the update,I'll have to wait it out.
