Ice Jigs

Have you guys (expecially you LK WA guys) had experience fishing ice jigs for bass around here? I have been interested in throwing them recently. I feel that they would be very effective while fishing over a school of fish that are suspended, inactive and deep. Even finding an isolated fish and getting down there with an ice jig might be the ticket during these times. What is a pattern that you guys have found to be the most productive?
These are the Rapala Jigging Rap

I saw those the other day. They might work, but it seems like when it's cold and the fish are dormant, those things would be a little big?

Sam, sam, sam, the one thing you should know about me by now is that for me, no lure is TOO big. Fish just don't stop eating during the winter. They may not be hungry today but they will have to eat eventually and being there when they do is key. Expecially when it come to big bass. They are looking for the biggest meal to expend the least amount of energy on. The thing about the ice jig is that you'll have the ability to place it on the noses of those lathargic bass. Plus if you have a quality fish finder you can pretty much place that baby right in their wheelhouse.
I just want to know if anyone has tried them. Or do I have to be the guinea pig?

Fishnislife give this a try!!! I have also thought about this technique. This seems to me would be very similiar in style and presentation to a blade bait (and no I don't mean a spinner bait) which is a technique I think is under used up here and should show good results for them big winter smallies.
It may be getting a bit late in the year to try it out, but if your looking for somebody to guinee pig up with next winter give me a yell. I think both of these presentations could be productive up here.

Blade baits are very effective fished in a slow jigging motion for smallmouth and none of those baits are small. I think they would be great in perch or firetiger maybe even just plain silver. Depends of the forage. Good idea though give it a swing.

Nobody has tried it? Huh..... Guess I'll have to have at it. I was looking at the perch for LK WA unless someone can convince me otherwise on a better pattern.
I'll take you up on that sometime skeeter. Hopefully before next winter though.
