Anyone use Spike-it?
i won some in the raffle at my clubs meeting last night and i used it a little and i'm kind of disappointed. when i use it on darker plastics it just turns the plastics a little more green, not chartreuse like it's supposed to. anyone else use it with different resluts?
RE:Anyone use Spike-it?
I've never used it, but when I saw their little demo in some of the catalogs I thought that that it doesn't make sense that you can dye something lighter.

We use to use all the time back in the midwest, we picked it up in the south. We always felt we got more bites with it, because of the chartreuse tails. The only disadvantage with this stuff is that your hands and rigs will be chartreuse.
It should be a chartreuse color right after you spike it, it works better for zoom products and similar plastics.

RE:Anyone use Spike-it?
the first thing i tried it on was a green pumpkin zoom lizard and all it did was turn tail like a watermelon color
RE:Anyone use Spike-it?
Might of got a bad batch, it's suppose to turn it to a straight chartreuse.
RE:Anyone use Spike-it?
Even though it doesn't appear to be a bright chartreuse color, it will be a drastic contrast from the rest of the bait, and the bass will key in on that. Hold it up to the light to see the difference. I always carry spike it with me. I have a ton of confidence in the stuff.

Got some in chartreuse at Cabela's today to try out. I tried it on a pink worm and it looks pretty good. Sea trials will hopefully be soon.

All i can say is "use it" .. Spike it has proven that is can make a difference in the proper setting.. What i like about it is the fact that you use only one plastic and if your luck doesn't change your not wasting a entire package of baits just to see if a little chartreuse helps.. and sometimes we cant always find one of our favorite plastics in that color , noo worries just spike it ..jus my two cents..BBD :batman:

Does the scent make any difference? There's crawfish, gamefish, garlic, garlic-salt, and unscented.

My Spike-it is Crawfish I think. I think they all have scent in them, not sure if they make just the dye itself. You don't buy it for the scent in my opinion. Use spike-it for the color, and then add your fav scent too.

I use spike-it garlic scent on my finesse worms and it works great. Keep in mind that you should use it over the side of the boat. If it spills it does not come out but will fade away eventually in sunlight. I spilled a whole bottle in my friend's new 21' Stratos, not a way to maintain a friendship. It faded in a few weeks, thank goodness.

I also use the garlic. Chartruese for green plastics and orange for brown plastics. In Texas we used it all the time, especially to die plastic crawfish pinchers. The difference will be more visible in the water. It will stain everything like mentioned above - so if you see me wearing tie died fishing clothes it is not bc I am a hippie.
RE:Anyone use Spike-it?
i picked up some of the garlic spike it dip and glo markers. hopefully they work good. anybody try the markers?

man i just tried the marker on the tail of a fluke and it works incredibly good. i dont know if the dip works as good as the marker but even the scent is a very strong garlic. bright chartrouse and still a strong scent after completly drying

RE:Anyone use Spike-it?
I bought the markers too, actually tried using the green to color braided line... imagine that scented line... but I did not like the color. The markers are good for detail work but I did not find them convenient on the water... digging to find them then having to color the bait - took too long so now I just stick to the dip.
RE:Anyone use Spike-it?
yeah i could see it taking to long on the boat. i will just do it at home. im gonna have to try the dip to.
