Well hello to all and happy newyear guys !! BBD has been having a blast sitting around the house every weakend, watching the tube allnight , sleeping in till after 10am on saturday mornings etc ..(IM GOING INSANE) ..LOL .. At any rate i was really just thinking about some the improvements that i plan to make for the 2008 fishing season ...Here are some my personal ares of improvements ..I will be fishing "The jig&pig" more on the local lakes , Those jigs are not one of my go to baits and it should be . The top two bass baits that produces the most bass nationwide are the "the jig" and "the spinnerbait".. I also plan to upgrade all but two of my spinning reels to baitcasters as well .. I have been in the yard and when i can on the water paying some dues on perfecting my casting skills ..Im also still tring to find more than two topwater baits to throw other than the frog and buzzbaits .. (im still stuck in that dept) .. I just thought that maybe it would be a cool ideal to just throw out a few things and see how maybe we can all be a value to eachother with the things we struggle with on the water .. I figure the best time to "get in the know" is prior to the spawn !!! plus i just enjoy talkn BASS period , lets have at it and "keep it real" guys !!! BBD :-"

i plan on trying a lot more new spots this year, last year i was shorbound all the way but now that i can get out on the water i want to try new lakes etc. i also want to veer away from my go to bait which was a 4" plastic lizard with no weight, which caught me fish but all of them were way small. i want to try jig n pig also and i want to try more spinnerbaits which might up my bass catching rate. i am going to fish for silvers on the lewis this year and i am going to make more of an effort towards summer run steel also. i think its going to be a good year for me.

Try a Pop-R. The Strike King Rage Tail Shad is an awesome soft plastic top water thats brand new. I bought a pack a month or so ago just to try out and they are cool baits.

I looking to broaden my approach this year... I picked up an ultralight setup @ Cabela's and I am looking to get a baitcasting one this spring. Last season I focused too much on weightless plastics and not much else. I also plan on trying to hit up the Eastern side of the state as well...

I look forward to meeting at least a few of y'all this season. I missed my chance last year. #-o

1) fish more local areas
2) start whittling down my tackle (look for plastics and stuff for sale sometime!)
3) really get swimbaits down
4) nail baitcasting
5) catch PBs for both SM/LM

Time on the Water!

I plan to try to fish 5 days a week.
I want to know the lake better (they are dropping it 14' pretty soon, so we are taking the jet sled out and marking some structure with GPS!)
More time on the water.....
Work plastics a little harder, rely less on the cranks.

I plan to improve on flipping and getting better distance and accuracy pitching.

I am going to continue to work on that drop-shot method.

I have a couple big bass lakes that I plan to hit with swimbaits after trout stockings.

Improve deep water fishing.

For those of you guys getting into swimbaits the thing I found out that helps the most is finding the right swim baits and having the proper equipment.

Small swim baits a fine for WA waters but if you are going to throw bigger baits spend the money and get the right rod and reel.

Don't go out and by tons of swimbaits. do some research and key in a a few great ones instead of loads of cheap ones you will never end up using.

They aren't just for big bass you can catch any size bass as long as it can get its mouth around the lure. But they are a good told to add to your arsenal

It's another piece to the arsenal and another method in versatility. There's my interest.

Plus the lakes I am targetting produce exceptionally large bass that fall for spring swimbaits. In fact, one lake has produced 4 of the last 6 Oregon state records and is closed to my in-laws.

By the way Daniel, what swimbaits do you recommend?

A good one you can find locally is the 4" castaic trout but I cant find the floating or slow sinking ones. I have the regular sinking ones and they have done well for deeper fish or a fast retrieve. They aren't the best and will tear around the lead but they are some what inexpensive.

The two more popular ones are the Osprey and California swimbabes baby E.

I havent been knocking them dead or anything I just know from personal use these are two good baits that wont break the bank and are used on the pro tours.

These here http://www.imakatsu.co.jp/products/pro_a018e.html are the new hot japanese baits.

1) Join a bass club this year
2) Search for new areas
3) Try more carolina rigging and football jigs
4) Fish more than last year.
5) Just upgraded on a spincast and a baitcaster, can't wait to use them.

1.Get out on the water every spare minute.
2.Try new baits.
3.concentrate on catching big fish.
4.Be more versatile
5.Fish areas slower and pick them apart better.
6. Try more dropshot rigs and shaky head worms.

1. Try to avoid just going directly to the usual supects in the tackle box.... I need to fish all that stuff that looked really interesting on the shelf in the store, and then made it home to the box, but never saw the water.

2. And what isn't successful..... pass it on to someone else.

I'm going to try and get out and do some fly casting for bass this year. I haven't done it for a couple of years and miss it. I am also taking on the new challenge of going after Tiger Muskies with a fly rod. Several of my fly casting friends are excited about trying it also. There is a saying that the Muskie is the "fish of a thousand casts". Maybe so, but I am still going to give it a shot. I'm getting some great information from a couple of Muskie guys on the site and have put together the appropriate rod, reel and line.

Now I am just waiting for the snow to head north!:bounce:

learn how to use the senko's in my box. drop shotting. ive never done it, but, where i fish all summer at potholes, the locals swear by it. i got the equipment, just need to know how to present it correctly (tie it on correctly also). any suggestion?? also get me a baitcaster. almost got 1 today at joe's on sale. i have 9 spincast outfits, need to diversify.

Cavdad , what up bro !! I use to get three coffee cans and place them in spots in the yard and flipp at them for 30 min ever day for a whole summer one year . it's make a hugh difference when your on the water.. as for drop shoting goes it is a killer tech. just remember to keep it simple .. iv found that the perfect size dropshot wieght is the 1/8 pencil weight and i use #2 or # 3 size dropshot hooks .. AARON MAGIC baits a good go to baits ... p.m. me directly for one of my favorite baits that gave me the bulk of my bass last year ... BBD
