i too have had good luck on liberty (i hit it often, i live in LL. in fact the photo i use for my avatar was taken with a monster bass on liberty) and chapman. liberty also has a pretty decent crappie population, and when i do occassionally keep a fish, i prefer the taste of them vs. bass. i've had some decent luck along the eastern shore of silver, around the dead stumps and docks.

chapman is one of my favorites because it has a 5mph speed limit on it so you don't get the skier/tuber traffic. everyone there is of the more hard-core fishing variety.

i'm hardly a pro, and if i knew more about how to fish them i'd probably catch more elsewhere, but those are the lakes where i've had the best luck.

good luck to you!

Thanks Johnny, have been to Liberty Lake. Will try it again. Only I do not like the boat ramp area it is always so full and hard to park there.

And you know that Bass are poisoness and should alway throw them back!! .#-o I agree on the taste of crappie hard to beat, but walleye are good also.

There are bass in Liberty Lake, I lived there for 10 years and prefer Newman hands down. The boat launch on Liberty Lake is about the worst design I have ever seen. There is only one hole for both in and out and the boat traffic even mid week is horrible. Newman get busy on summer weekends but being bigger you can always find a calm place.

Thanks for the info being a new resident of the Spokane area. How is Liberty for the shore angling? I do not have a boat.

I have fished from the statepark area and done fairly well. As long as you hit it early in the year before they actually open the park up you can fish it for free and you then also can walk through the marshy swamp like area and get away from the swimming area and get down to a better spot. I have seen some catch some nice bass this way I general just mess around for perch and bluegills just for fun but have nailed a few smaller largemouths just on a jig and bobber.

The sad truth is the lakes around Spokane do not offer any decent bank fishing. I bought a new boat this year and do alot of bass fishing. I go to Newman alot because it is close. Long Lake asa Spokane Lake is good bass fishing too. I have had some luck on Liberty Lake, but prefer Newman. Priest River up near Newport is a good bass area. Gotta have a boat to really appreciate the fishing here in the NW. I was out on Newman Friday and got 4 decent bass, mostly little males anticipating the females. I'm going again Thursday afternoon and probably Friday. Indeed the bass are poison, you must throw them back or you will be cursed by the fisherman gods.
