Has anyone recently went Bass fishing and did any well? I was gonna give up on Bass till spring, but If anyone is doing well and recommends continuing, I might give bass 1 more shot. I really want to hear from some of you guys. Lets keep this Thread going this time with Facts and knowledge that us Fellow men/women have had from past/recent trips. Last bass I caught was about a month ago and It was on a small 2" original silver floating rapala. Took about 25 casts in the same spot before the lure intimedated the bass into a strike. Only a mere dink though. Hows the Success beeN?

It's really been slowing down. I've fished Beaver, which according to my fishing log is the best in the rain/nasties. Both days were in the top 5 for me this year of 'wet and nasty'. All dinks. I think that the small fish that haven't learned to suspend and adapt to fall are the only ones staying shallow (aka summer homes). As they get deeper and more negative as fall goes on, bass fishing is going to hit a brick wall.

Dont the Larger bass Swim the Shallows during the Fall in search of food to store up for Winter? If so, Then a bunch of those Dinks will become Prey to the Larger bass.

They suspend until later in the day. Then they move to the shallows to feed. If you are catching dinks, you're not in the right spot.

Went out both weekend days to two different lakes. One dink to show for it. Pretty darn slow for this summer loving fisherman.

bassing is in eastern washing this time of year. i fish the lower yakima and lower snake river out of the tri-cities this time of year for "big" smallies. yamamoto grubs (chartr. & slat-n-peppa). i have seen some pics recently from some guys fishing lake washington, some decent sized bass. the cold water dont help, but i think the biggies are caught this time of year. im going to hit coulon park area mon-tues night, ill let you know.

Hey :dj: I like the new avatar, sorry we forced you into it...LOL

"T1FP"...here's what I do in the late fall / winter...start each fishing trip with the mindset that you're NOT going to catch anything (i.e. casting practice). If you DO end up hooking up, it's a bonus. This time of year is NOT the time to have high hopes for sizeable fish.

Doing this will do two things...

1) Keep the "dust" off your cast and your tackle so when spring rolls around you don't look like a newby out there all tangled up in 8 lb. line.

2) You get MOST lakes / ponds to yourself and....YOUR FISHING DADGUMATE!!!!

I like to stay shallow in the early morning and then move deeper as the sun starts coming up (if it ever does)...I'd have to defer to :dj: for the official ruling on that, he's the expert :thumright

One thing about me, Is I usually only try for Hogs, So I always have my mind set on not catching 1. If I do catch 1 like u said, its just a bonus. Thats mainly why im on this site, because I want to catch bass everytime instead of just bonuses. Havent caught a decent sized bass in over a year.

Thx for the tips, I'll give Bass fishN 1 more shot.

QUeSTION???? Is it bad to fish off bank during the late fall?

fishpro, hit the Columbia and the sloughs for the smallies. Its one of the best opportunities for big bass this late in the year.

My Wife and I fished the dam at Potholes, Saturday and did okay.
She hooked a little Largemouth right off the bat and he spit up a small Perch.
I had picked up some Wild eye swim baits that I use for Walleye and tyed one on.
I landed 7 Smallmouth from 2 to 4 lbs.
Deb had a small curly tail grub on looking for some Crappie but all she got was some smaller Bass.
We had 2 fish that we could have kept.
1 was under 12 inches and one was over 17.

One thing I learned is that you gotta fish SLOW!!!!!!!!!! Deadbait slow slow slow!!!! If you think your fishing slow your prob. fishing too fast. On sencos a cast could be in the water for 5 minutes. So patitence is a verture. If it is a nice calm sunny day you can SLOWROLL spinnerbaits in the middle of the day off of points and wood stucture. But the Bass aren't going to move far for a dinner, just things that are just off there nose. Good Luck

I went out Sat. to Beaver. Caught one decent bass and missed a nice rainbow on the troll. Slow is the key. I fished for two hours before catching a bass on a texas rigged roboworm. It sat for a full couple of minutes deadstill when I started reeling it back and saw there was a fish on....Sucks. Beaver rocks in the spring and summer...

I hit Beaver too from shore. Not advisable for this time of year. Update: The lilypads are dying, it's cold, and the bass are in deeper water (or at least the park side bass).

I've done well up until the last couple weeks. No bigguns to speak of while they were hittin, but plenty of ones with "little big man syndrome". But of course, when you're out with a tiny pole and four pound test, they all put up a good fight. However, yesterday (11-1) not a single hit from them. I did do very well with the Crappie though after giving up on the bass......report and pic should be posted within a day at the Secret Lakes reports. I still ain't givin up on the fish, I fish year round, rain, sleet, snow; it doesn't matter.
