I've been a subscriber to BassMaster magazine off and on since 1980, but have never read BASS Times. I just received a trial offer for one year at $12.

Does anyone subscribe to that? Is it any good?

I'm not a subscriber but I did pick up a copy a couple weeks ago. I liked it, it has some cool stuff in there. That reminds me, I need to renew my membership to B.A.S.S.

I had a subscription to bass times. The tournament info overlaps with Bassmasters. Bass times do have diffrent articles about conservation and interesting bass facts specific states. Every month they have an article about what lures to use for the current season on a certain body of waters. It's also set up as a newspaper format compared to Bassmasters magazine format. For a buck an issue, it's worth it.

I like the FLW Bass issues and even get an occassional redfish issue for kicks. I get Bassin' pretty regular, too. Both are good publications with lots of applicable info. I still love Bassmaster, though. Another good teacher.

BTW, have you read some of their books lately? They are similar to the old Fishing and Hunting Library series from years ago, but with alot of updated info. They are Published through B.A.S.S.

FLW, I don't know what it stands for, but it is a big group of bass organizations and it has some tournaments shown on TV sometimes. Type in FLW into your browser and it'll get you the homepage and you can read about it.

:safe: out.

FLW stands for Forrest L. Wood he is the founder of ranger boats and the owner of FLW. Same thing as B.A.S.S. but better.

FLW has a bassmasters classic type event that takes place at the end of the season and this year paid out 1,000,000 to 1st place. Luke Clausen won the forest cup a few years before his Classic win...i think it was 04'

FLW does all the Wal-Mart events and Nation Guard stuff. Walleye tours and red fish, king fish.....

When I was fishing tournaments the Classic was $50,000. A BASS Invitational paid $37,000. Opens were around $20,000-25,000. And BASS spread the payout over 15 years as an annuity. It was hard to make a living at it, much less break-even after expenses. The payouts are alot better these days.
