Where to Fish When Dropshotting

I have set up a couple of dropshot rigs and am looking to try them. What are some good spots? Obviously not shallow water, but about how deep? And what should I look for in terms of structure? I am fishing the tops of weeds, should I look for docks or rocks? I know it is a lot of questions but I am completely new to this.

you can use them anywhere really. docks, weedlines, rocks, and some guys even pitch them into lilly pads. they are good for targeting specific locations like stumps and stuff. very versatile technique.

In Lake Washinton, fish outside the weedline, that usually ranges from 17' to 25'. Some of the deeper docks will be just outside of the weedline too.

CK14 and Kzoo are on the money!! Drop shotting is extremely effective, especially on fish that have been hammered. Where and what to fish really depends on time of year. This time of year look for the fish to be shallow in the mornings, feeding in about the 7'-15' range on flats near drops or rock piles (especially if the wind is blowing and/or it is raining). Low barometric pressure will push smallies up shallow. After the sun has come up look for them in the 15'-25' range. If you can find docks in this range they should hold some fish, as well as rock piles and weed edges.

Good luck to ya.
