Hello,
I am going to be fishing Diamond lake in Eastern Washington by Newport this Friday. I have heard some reports from locals that the Small Mouth are bedding and the Largies are not far behind. I am new to bass fishing and would love any help on how to target bedding fish. I will be practicing catch and release immediately as I don't want to hurt the fish at all, but Ive heard this is pretty fun fishing!
Any tips on types of lures, speed, and ideas in general would be great.
Also any tips on the lake in general would be welcomed.
Thanks,
SB2

Re: Diamond Lake/Spawning Techniques
usually a drop shot with anything will grab the attention of a small mouth

Never fished the lake, but a very good pair of polarized glasses is the most important thing. Cover lots of water with your eyes until you find fish. Generally once you find a fish, you find multiple. A drop shot with a white snub, and short leader is hard to beat for smallies. Some fish will require that you give them lots of space before they coperate. Best of luck.
