Just got my first float tube yesterday and chomping at the bit to hit some spots for bass. Anyone else go bassin' in a float tube? I'm fairly new to the area and would love to meet up with a few local bassers who know some good spots or just want to explore some smaller lakes and see what's out there.

I'll be out of commission for a few weeks in August (having knee surgery) but tubing should be good therapy for my new knee.

I usually fish around Federal Way but can travel a little until I have the surgery.

What up (Hank) Aaron? I don't live in your area but would fish with you if I did. I love to float tube (but don't have one currently).
I just wanted to say welcome to the WL.com family and good luck with you upcoming surgery.
As far as float tubin for bass, it's the best way to fish smaller ponds and lakes. You can get anywhere and you have a stealth mode that boats don't. I hope others can hook you up with some lake info and can get out with you sometime. There are a lot of cool fisherman around here. I'm sure someone will hit you up.

Already had a few PMs from people wanting to go tubing, so thanks to everyone who's responded so far. Hopefully I'll have time before the 13th to hit the water a few more times in search of the lunkers. If not, 10 dinks equal a hawg, right?

anyone have an extra tube or 2? i just got my friend into bass fishing but we have been quite limited in where we can go. we've only gone to small lake shores and docks that we've had to pay for. even gone as far as renting a boat a couple times but that is getting too expensive. if anyone can spare 2 tubes (or a couple guys who can spare 1 each), we'd love to get together one morning. we are 27-28ish and people friendly. thanks.

ps, hope that doesnt sound like a match.com intro!

Hey Volk,

I found mine at a yard sale and got it for $20. Had to go to Home Depot to get a piece of pvc pipe cut for the stabilizer, but that cost me all of 2 bucks. I paid more for the swim fins than I did the tube (and glad I spent the extra for good fins!).

Check out CraigsList - I've seen them posted on there for pretty cheap. Might want to post a Wanted ad in the Classifieds here as well. I'm sure someone will be looking to upgrade soon and will part with theirs.

do you wear waders or just shorts and fins?

This time of year you can get away with shorts and fins. Once the water temp starts dropping I'll be investing in either waders or neoprene, definitely.
