so im looking to get a new rod i know bass fishing you need a rod for every dang lure but i dont like to do that maybe 2 or 3 rods in my arsenal but what is the best all around rod that i can use cranks spinners etc. on

i like my lamiglas certified pro XS661
I can throw senkos, tubes, small spinnerbaits, dropshots and texas rigs

Casting or spinning rod/reel? I have a casting rod that I've used, and caught fish with, crankbaits and spinnerbaits. It would be great for worms and jigs also. It's 6' long if I remember. It's in the truck, I may go get the stuff out of the truck some time today.

lure - 3/8 oz to 3/4 oz

line - 10 to 20 lb

I've got another one even heavier that that one. $10 each.

For bait casters, a MH 7 ft rod is very universal. It can be used for plastics, senkos, spinnerbaits, carolina rigging, football head and flipping. For cranking I prefer M action rods, I've got a glass rod that I'll use for shallow running, but it's a pain when there's weeds around.

For Spinning, at least for shimano actions, I like a 6'6" M action for dropshots and a 6'6" MH for jerkbaits.

As for brands, I use to be a huge st croix guy, but their warranty took a crap so I switched to Shimano. The clarus series is a decent moderately priced rod. If you want to spend some more money, the crucial are light finese rods.

spinning rod i dont use bait casters. you selling yours amx?

I do have a couple spinning rods I'm selling. I'll check them out to see just what they are. They are all graphite, some have the tip broken off and new tip guides glued on, but can be used for heavier jigs, or maybe plastic worms. A person would have to check them out to see if they are what would work for them. A couple are fine and might be med action, but I'll have to check.

1] is 5" 6'. It was 6' 6". It would now be called 'heavy action' good for 1/2 jigs, etc. it's a 2 piece rod.


2] is 5' 7". Can't tell how long it was, the words are worn off. It was med heavy, now is heavy, but not as heavy as the other, a little more limber tip. Daiwa Gold Strike.

3] is kinda a pistol grip but with enough room to use the end for a 2 handed cast. Bass Pro Shops Bionic Blade. 5' 8' that is now 5' 5". Was a med action and still could be concidered med.

4] Bass Pro Shops Bionic Blade. Same handle as #3. was 5' 6". Still 5' 6". BB56MS 5' 6' MED GRUB SPINNING ROD. 1/8 to 1/2 oz lure. 6 to 14 lb line. I don't remember why I quit using this rod.

I have about 4 more that have the tips broken, maybe a new tip will make them usable for someone.

yea ive been cheacking out rods i really like the new carrot stix but they are a little chunk of change out of my pocket. i ended up buyin a 20 dollar cherrywood rod to use for now and ofcourse the tip broke before i even got to use it
