Off to Silver Lake (Cowlitz)

Post by Bisk1tSnGraV » Mon Jun 07, 2010 8:16 am

This weekend we are heading down to my brother-in-laws for a birthday party for my niece. Only 20 minutes from Silver Lake so the SS Goof Troop will be in tow. Anyone been down there lately or have any tips for me that they are eager to share? LOL.
'course they don't have biscuits and gravy ... but if they did, I bet everyone would eat there.

I know that everything is biting but as for hotspots.....duh,not sure.
I spoke with Kris about 2 weeks ago,she had stated that the crappie bite was good off the dock at the Silver Lake M&R
and a few bass off the dock as well but as for the rest of the lake....unknown.
Have a great time,we're hoping to get down there in a week or so but my schedule is full at the moment, however,we are
booked up to stay down there for Fourth of July weekend.....you should join us sucka!!!!

Fished there the weekend of the 22nd of May
Water temp warmed up to 61 and only caught one fish, about 2.5 lbs
off a brushy/rocky point
I know that describes the whole but maybe that helps?
same ol same ol blk/blue jig and pig
But thats all i throw there unless its above 63-65 degree water temp

Jay fish this Lk as you would any other. From the launch head to the right all the way fishing the docks. Watch out for rocks around the island.
Are you hung up again!

Most of the fish will be in a heavy post-spawn it would seem. Use a soft plastic frog, buzzing frog, and a buzzbait. along with maybe some weightless plastics. You should be able to get a big post-spawn female to go for something like that.

Thanks Nick and Trent. I will be launching from the public launch. Are you referring to the island directly across from the launch?

Waldon island is to the right of the public launch. Lots of docks and rocks, I throw cranks on the deeper rocks and spinnerbaits for shallow rock. Get under 9 pound dock with soft plastics if the water is low enough.

if everyday was a good day there would be alot more fisherman.

That may be a little bit of a journey with the little 3hp outboard that I have. Heard that over by Skeeters and the docks there are a good direction too.

Ya I'm still with South Pierce and I love it! :colors: I didn't end up going fishing because I was up late with my aunt taking her dog to the 24 hr emergency vet. And I have a cold that has been kicking my butt#-o . So my dad canceled the early morning fishing trip so I could rest and feel better.
