Being in the tube, I've had boats of all kinds jump in front of me. Not too close mind you, but close enough and start fishing in front of me. I think.."you have the whole lake and you jump in front of me?" Just makes me focus more and I usually catch fish behind them. That's where the satisfaction comes in, and I make it known. Never any run ins with anyone tho...except for that Trent Hale guy..seems to think he owns the whole lake. J/K Great guy. Good meeting you out there and thanks for the tow.

I understand where you are at BassDood. Same thing happened one of the last times I was out. Was fishing shoreline and boat came down to fish in front of me. As it left and I moved in I hooked into my PB of 4 pounds 11 ounces right after the two on the boat had been fishing that area. So karma has a way of straightening all things out sometimes. Now what to do about that Trent guy I am not sure ... laughs!

Me and LowVW actually nailed a couple in front of some tourny guys last year on Lake Washington. Here we are in my dinky 12' and they are on their slick bass boat, not catching lol.

Speaking of dinky 12', LowVW is trying to talk me into fishing the sammamish tourny, but that thing is slow as crap, and I dont have a livewell. As much as I would like to join in and meet you all, I'm not sure I want the frustration of trying to keep up in my dingy! Its like a fat kid running a lap behind in gym class...

As with most conflict issues the problem lays with just a handful of bass tournament anglers that seem to feel that they have superior "rights" to the rest of us. Some seem to feel that those superior rights also apply to when they are also practicing. However it takes very little of that sort of behavior to put an damper on your day.

The classic encounter with those "A" type tournament anglers was also on Goodwin about a decade ago (not a new problem). I was fishing along a shore line this time of year (prespawn) and two docks up the way was one of those spots on Goodwin that always seem to hold decent numbers of pre-spawn largemouth (sure that most of us know several such spots on Goodwin). Anyway a tournament fisher (I had a run in with the same angler the week before when he was pre-fishing) came charging across the lake and pulled right in to the "hot" dock literally 40 feet in front of me - I had been working towards that point for 20 minutes or so. I had little choice but to swing around him biting my tongue. As I passed him and cut back into the dock line 3 or 4 docks down the line Mr. Tournament yelled at for cutting in front of him and asking what the heck I was doing; didn't I realize that he had a tournament to win- GIVE ME A BREAK!

If those types of encounters were just a once in a while thing it would not be so bad but it got to the point that I would have such encounters several times a month. Those jerks are an embarrassment to all bass anglers.

Tight lines
Curt

The only other people on the lake that bother me are the guys that run through the middle of 20 boats WAY to fast and wake everyone out.

The worst I have seen is down off point defiance in the Sound. You'll have literally 100 boats out there and a couple guys who think it's appropriate to pass by everyone within 20 yards at full speed. That's just rude and frustrating.

Otherwise I don't care who I share the water with when I'm urban fishing. If I need to get away, I hike to a lake.

I'n my personal opinion Dez you are right when you said that nobody owns the lake it's to be shared by everyone, But allot of people don't understand that concept and want to try and be the bigger person which is crazy. Me myself I feel that there is a thing called common courtesy if you see someone fishing stay out of there hole if you are fishing or just having fun out there, And like BB said just wave and smile unless it gets to that point. Then figure out what you are gonna do next, if you want to stoop to there level and be inappropriate. JMO

As in all aspects of life, everyone has a different opinion of what is fair. I side with BF and those of you who expressed the same points of view. My parents taught those values to me and they also taught me that everyone doesn't think the same way I do, so it's not worth getting your britches in a knot over other peoples apparent lack of common sense or respect....it really is just "some people's kids". I will admit that it's hard to let things go sometimes though!

When I was a kid I used to do a lot of trout stream fishing working my way down river wading. My biggest pet peeve would be when someone would walk in on me just 25 yards downstream, look at me, then start working the river just below me. My dad taught me not to do this to people, so I'd take it personally.
But I'm sure they were just taught different or the fact that there are just a lot of fishermen and not enough places to fish.

Im enjoying hearing the different view points from all . That why i thought this would be a good thread to start because if nothing else it gives "ALL ANGLERS" a good oppertunity to express there views prior to the conflict on the water ..lol If these views changes the mind of just one angler "misson complete" ! :salut:

Thanks for keeping it real fellows !!

i have been cut off, flipped off, had rockes thrown at me for fishing there dock, have had people cast weights at me, and one guy threatened me by letting me know without pulling it out that he had a gun. i know im a polite fisherman, i think i have just had a little bad luck with fishing run ins. i dont cut people off, dont fish in front of people even when i am fishing with other people i like them to cast into the good spots first. nine times out of ten im still the one catching fish though, and thats all that matters to me lol.

That's great advice you gave: don't let others ruin your day. Yes there are idiots and rude people out there, but ignore them as best as you can and keep fishing.

This is one thing I DO NOT miss:-& Since I have been here all the guys have been really cool. I know there is a few out there but we got a lot of room to roam and a lot less people.

I was at the river here in town spin fishing and I had 2 fly-fisherman come up river and they fished up to me. They then asked if I was planning to head up or down. I told them that I had just started and I only planned to fish a couple holes they asked witch ones. I told them and they said that they would leave the 2 holes undisturbed. Those were the only fisherman I have run into on that stretch of water so I have to say there are perks to living in Wyoming :-"

Dude, I can relate to that (not the gun part), and just a little "warning" to the participants in the Sammamish Derby, my worst altercation, frankly I haven't had many, is from the guy the owns the god awful little purple colored house on the west side of the lake. I too consider myself a pretty courteous fisherman both to fellow fisherman and landowners. This guy is a peice of work, and he harassed me for fishing the dock structure in front of his house, called me names, wanted to know why every fisherman had to fish right there (uh because a 4lb smallie has chosen to sit on a bed there for the past several weeks), and then told me he was calling the cops because I was trespassing, and took a picture of me fishing. I bit my tongue the whole time, kept fishing, caught that fish, then couldn't keep my mouth shut anymore and asked him if he would take another picture for me....he wouldn't. I have to admit now I cringe every time I come up to that particular house, frankly I don't like altercations on the water at all, so just some friendly advice when you get on Sammamish.
