I go Fluoro all the way. I don't think it's a big deal with mono and tieing it to the main line, 4lb test is a little weak, I'd go 6lb minimum.

I use 8 lb co-polymer or flouro for my drop shot. Some people would consider 8 lb heavy, but I like it and have caught plenty of fish.

I use 12lb and for the times I have d-shotted it works and it catches fish so I don't consider 8lb heavy at all Chrisb.

I use 6lb Flouro for D-Shotn. I think if your finesse fishing the lighter the line the better. If you happen to catch a monster it will be a good test to see how good of an angler you really are. Play him out. Don't horse him.
And don't be afraid of light line.

I use 8lb Pline Flouro, I don't think I'd go any heavier.
