Also, there was something earlier this year I think about a diamond and other gem fly fishing lure.

Wow, those are some pricy lures! Did you see that one for $250?
Oh ya, the Armaggedon. Just about everything the 3:16 lure co. puts out is off the hook. The greatest thing they have put out is the weedless swimbait called the Mission Fish. It has revolutionized swimbait fishing.
Personally, if I had a choice between an Armaggedon or 7 Huddlestons, I would have to choose the obvious.

I tell you what, the huddleston black shad is killer on Silver lake. That sucker has brought in numerous 5+ pound fish for me. By the way, 20 pound fluoro is recommended for all of their baits. All the U.S. Record fish come from California- for Largemouth Bass, longest, heaviest, ect.

up here i think you can get away with much lighter tackle, seeing as the odds of you hooking into even a 10 lb bass are astronomical.

You'd still want some strong line so you don't lose a $50 lure...

I agree, just considering the weight of big swimbaits I'd never use less than maybe 14 lb XT. I just think it would be a little overkill to use an 8 foot steelhead rod spooled with 25 lb mono like they use down there. Basically all I'm saying is that if you want to get into throwing swimbaits up here, you don't have to buy a whole new setup for it.

Nik, you are probably right regarding the size of the fish. However, some of the swimbaits are so heavy that you need the heavier gear just to throw them. My Spro BBZ-1 weighs four ounces, and it takes heavy gear to cast that bait. Not to mention, I would rather go overkill with the line test (I use 30lb mono) than risk having it get snagged and losing it. With the 30 lb mono, I can straighten most hooks and save the lure.
