Liberty Lake or Newmann Lake

Post by spokanebassman » Fri Sep 11, 2009 3:17 pm

Hello fellow Anglers!
I am taking my dad out for his first time bass fishing in many many years next Wednesday. I was thinking of fishing at either Newmann or Liberty Lake. I would really like him to catch a couple (I wouldnt mind some either  )

It has been a bouple years since I have fished wither lake so I am not super familiar with either of the lakes but see great reports on this site.

If you only had one day to fish which would you choose and what would be a good fall pattern to attempt to get him into the fish.

i cant speak much for liberty as i have only fished a couple of times. But i have always caught fish. i would personally go to newman. its one of my favorite lakes. you will always be able to catch a few good ones in the pads. we pitch senkos in there along with spinner baits and always catch fish. also the deeper docks by the big rock wall always produce quality fish. also the string of dogs across from the big rock wall usually has a muskie swimming around there. i say go to newman. throw some cranks on the docks. you will do good.
my bad.. i thought when you said "do whatever you want" you meant that it was cool i went fishing. maybe you shouldn't use sarcasm.

Never fished Liberty, wind is always blowin out there lol. Newman is great love the scenery and the fishing is good. plenty of docks , coves and weed beds along with two large lilly pad areas. Senkos in the lillies and on docks, work crankbaits around the weed beds and docks.

you need to get a real job like me so you can go fishing instead of going to work. friday is going to be epic. actually i should shut up. the more i talk about how nice the fishing is going to be, the worse it ends up.

I know I'm late to the party but I've just got to put my two cents in.

At Liberty, I can catch bass. Check out some of the reports.

At Newman, that lake is dead to me...

My fish per trip average at that lake is somewhere around 0.1. What is it about that lake that I just can't catch fish there!? Needless to say, I'm a little frustrated at how ineffective I am at Newman. Must just be the wrong places at the wrong times. Ah fishing...

They're still biting at Newman, went out there yesterday to winterize the boat, fished for about 2.5 hours and boated 2 bass, both largemouth. I believe that's a new personal best for latest in the year catching a largemouth.

The late bite sucks at Liberty! Went out yesterday and surface temp was 40 degrees, only caught 2 perch of decent size (good for the frying pan!) Saw many fish poping their heads up but NO jumpers! Very lethargic fish, but the weather was terrible also. All in all was still a great day on the water, better than work! Seems that the fall bite around spokane shot past us as the weather took a dramatic downturn so fast. Has anyone else noticed this or am I just loosing my mojo w? the fishes?

I agree the fall bite never happend on the East side. Have been to Newman 3 times with my neighbor we caught 4 bass and 3 tigers one day and 3 bass another, the other time I went solo and caught one.
