Seasonal Bait patterns for Bass fishing in washington ..what works for you
I have bass fished mainly in the midwest and southern states over the past 10 years . We follow a basic pattern for all of the seasons.. In the spring we use smaller baits , In summer we go to bigger baits , in fall we go back to smaller baits and in winter we dead stick bigger baits / these patterns are very effective in states that have a consistant seasonal whether changes (all four seasons).. However here in the great state of washington these patterns are in my opinion different depending on each angler i talk to and the weather from year to year.. Whats your thoughts or suggestions on a set Bait size pattern through out an entire year here in washington?.. mainly westeren washington .....BBD:bounce:

Slow presentations in winter jigs, and Carolina rig.
Crankbaits, Deep diving jerkbaits, and grubs for smallies in early spring.
Topwater, senkos, and Spinnerbaits for largemouth in late spring "post spawn"
Weightless plastics, crankbaits, or any other lure that will work depending on conditions during the rest of the season.

I think Everything done here has a base of a little more finesse than in other areas of the U.S. Also W. Wa is always dealing with weather changes and the fish are on some type of cold front behavior a lot of the time.

Are you replacing spinnerbaits and crankbaits with stickbaits and plastics? What is your best confidence search bait around here?

Jointed Shad Rap by Rapala in perch colors has worked for me anytime of year on both sides of the mountain for largemouf and smallmouf. But there is always a time to use something else and I think Jake laid it out pretty damn well.

Yes .. now all of a sudden my favorite tackle box is all my different plastics .. i have always had a ton of plastics and never had to depend on them untill i got here ... i have so many different plastics in sizes and colors , and i catch fish on all of them .. it's kinda funny but in nashville, tn i would only use these bait in the streams fishing for smallys and rock bass in crystal clear water ...now thats the only box i take to lake .. i havent touched any of my crankbaits .. i just started using my jerk baits and rattletrap within the last few weeks ...my search bait is that senko in a color that no one can get , i get them from a friend of mine who is pro on tour ....
