Beaver/Pine Lakes.

Post by JT26 » Tue Jun 19, 2007 7:50 pm

A few of questions...

First, is the park on Beaver Lake full of lillie pads at this time of the year? Second, if it isnt, would i be able to catch bass off of the shore?

Third, is there bass any where on the dock at Pine Lake?

We must live close together. Beaver Lake is not full of lilly pads at this time of year, but there are some nice patches between the point and the pavilion. You could catch bass there, but don't count on it. Those lillies are subjected to high fishing pressure and it is just not great bass habitat period. It may look it, but it's not. It would be 10X better to be out on a boat or any kind of flotation device. Pine Lake, same story. You need a boat there too. If you were earlier in the season, there were tons of spawning smallmouths under the dock. Later in the season, the weed bed begins to produce more bass, but still not very much. Sorry to be a downer, but it's the truth.

those pads are actually a good area to fish, as a matter of fact that point is pretty hot at times. my buddy caught a 5 pound smallie in the swimming area at pine. but yes to effectivaly fish these lakes you need a boat

yes the smallie at pine was spawning in the swimming area. they should start hanging out on the docks real soon.

as for the lillys and the point at beaver its near deep water. so fish consistantly travel there to eat. i cant say its a big fish hangout but last week there was a 3 pounder caught on a live worm. they also relased it which isnt to common for people fishing with live worms.

its only my second year fishing these lakes. so im sure you do know the lakes better than me. but a friend and i have recently caught fish here nothing big at all though.

I'm sorry, I misread your post when you said "and they should start hanging around the docks real soon". I thought that you were implying that the reason bass would start to move to the docks was for the spawn, not that the water is warming.

no worries. we cant tell each others tones or how we really speak online. so sometimes its hard to tell what people mean.
