American is tuff from the bank. Cat lake is decent but you have to make sure the isn't any drills or anything going on out there and make sure you have military ID!

Haven't been to washington yet because of the long drive but I would go there myself too! If I lived up there and was boatless!

oh you're at lewis? Man just snag a topo map and hit the ranges on lewis. Theres a lake on north fort right by the army band HQ or whatever that has good shore access. Theres just tons of lakes on that post that are rarely tapped for their potential. Also if possible grab a float tube. It lets you get to places on the water that a boat will get you to on a smaller body of water and its not as expensive and its portable. You can inflate it and ruck it in on your back. My set up run me about 190 well my wife that much since she bought it for me.

I have had good luck at Lewis Lake on Ft Lewis. I have a friend in the Air Force and we have hit that lake a few times this year. Lots of dinks but also friends have caught 2 - 3.5#. Using mainly Senkos at 4" - 5" in watermelon with red/blk flake. For the 5" I like the Zeros as they are really tough and last through many fish.
'course they don't have biscuits and gravy ... but if they did, I bet everyone would eat there.

Also if you know where FOB Eagle is ther eis a heavy vegitated deep pond across the way from it. I think its out of the east gate and I am sure they have some nice ones hiding in there. I have a laminated map i keep with me but yeah just check that out and there plenty around yelm/roy area too.

Spanaway also has decent bank access, and you should be able to hook into a few there whether it be rock bass, largemouth, or smallmouth.
