Lake Mayfield ????????

Post by sgpwayne » Tue May 20, 2008 1:18 am

We finally broke down and wet a line on saturday . We went to Mayfield Lake and got skunked. If anybody out there can help with some suggestions for Bass on this lake We would appreciate it. We rented a condo at the resort for the Memorial Weekend and would really like to catch some fish. The water temp varied from 45 to 62 degrees and seemed to be getting a lot of runoff from the river. Thanks for any help WAYNE

i know there are smallmouth and largemouth in there, but i dont recall ever hearing anyone catch one. i think you would be better off trying for muskies

You'll more than likely get a Musky before any bass in there. Riffe lake is a bit up the road, but i'm sure you'd land some smallies from there!

I have caught LMB out of mayfield muskie fishing so I stoped for the muskies and had a very good time catching bass I found the most on the north side in the flats. The largest was 6+ down to 4 but I am using large baits.
