Reel repair

Post by WCCT » Wed May 14, 2008 4:42 am

Does anyone know where I can get my Quantam spinning reel repaired locally? My wife accidentally kicked it overboard last saturday, but I was able to come back on monday with my aqua view and find it. The reel is locked up and in need of a good cleaning. Thanks.

If you pull it apart, lubricate it, and put it back together, I bet you would be fine.

Auburn Sports and Marine wil be having a sidewlk sale Thursday thru Sunday. If I remember correctly, they will have local quantam reps on site. They would be able to give you probably the best difinitive answer. I'll ask for you on another board though.

I think you would be much happier if you just send it off to Quantam Repair center and have them do it . It has a warrenty on it and atleast you know it going to done correctly . The only down side is that you would be without it on saturday morning , unless you just purchase another one . That's too bad it went for swim , but atleast you got it back .. Good luck saturday and i hope things work out .. BBD #-o

I have to echo Gisteppo on this. this year I have been lubing my own reels. I do not consider myself any kind of mechanical person,, but go down and get a tube of reel grease and on of oil reel oil. It is very simple to take apart and do.
Just remember to go light, when you think you know how much to add..... then only add half of that.:-"

Like WCCT - I would also be interested in finding someone who repairs reels. The drag on my Pflueger President is being wierd on me. I do my own lubing and wonder if I got some oil where it doesn't belong or something. I tried emailing Plueger, but have had no response.

Gringo , wazzzz up bud ! hey man i have three of those presidents and im a hugh fan on them . My advises depending on where you purchased them from is to just take it back and get a new one . Most stores will take them back within 6 months if you still got the receipt .. Did i mention that i really like those reels .. lol .. good hearing from ya man !! BBD

Yeah, I like em also (got two, one small, one med). This one I got at Outdoor Emporium over 2 years ago. I figure I will take it in the next time I stop down there and see what they can do for me.
