Wow, I remember reading about that fish a year or two ago. Such an amazing fish, such an amazing life and saga that is connected with her. I hope they have a memorial service for old dottie. That is one fish that deserves some serious respect. Hats off to dottie.

Peace

Pretty cool article actually....
I was just coming on here to post this up. You beat me to the punch Sam Kafelafish.

Good ole' Dottie. She will be replaced by another monster soon. You can bet that Jed Dickerson, Mike Long, Butch Brown, Bill Siemental, Mac Weakley and the like have their respective eyes on a potential world record. She is not the only one. But she will be the most infamous fish in the history of the sport. She gave all those guys a run for their money for years and they still couldn't get the best of her. One smart fish.

Not sure, but If I had to guess 20+, maybe even 25 years old.

Mike Long with her in 2001 at 20lbs.

Jed Dickerson caught her in 2003 when she was 21.7 officially (but over that weight and the world record when he caught her, she lost a lot of weight from stress by the time he finally got her officially weighed)

Mike Winn holding Mac Weakley's catch when she was 25lbs. in 2006

And now......

Helluva fish.
Talk about a local legend, and it's a fish....

That place was incredibly busy after Weakley caught it...Complete zoo...Saw it firsthand...

Wow is all I can say. I heard about her back in 06 when she was an unofficial world record. Probably the most legendary fish in the history of this sport! Just think of how many years she spawned and what kind of genes she left behind! She will come again

Did anyone see if they said how much she weighed when found dead?
If she had all those years of spawning there should be a lot of male and female bass with her genes. I wonder if two of them breed will they spawn a super freak?

She even got to spawn after she was the released world record. Lotta good genes in that pool!

Estimation is 15-17 years old right now and as soon as I hear about the official age from the testing I will post it up.
