Sunday Outing

Post by 2000subaru » Thu Feb 14, 2008 7:43 pm

Wondering if anyone is planning on getting their tackle wet this Sunday? I have a Kitchen Pass (Permission from the boss) to leave for the day and try to catch a fish. I figured that I would go to my usual lake, but am open to others. Anyone else getting out?

i will probably get out on the pontoon and drag around a jig.we have had some sun, but the water is still very cold. i went out today and pitched my jig all over the place in 10 - 20 feet of water. one thing is for sure its gonna be on soon.

(but remeber the state record bass is 3x smaller than the state record trout)

I dont think that was the right comment for the bass forum :bom:

Rufus is a bit far for the day, but you did say your girlfriend would be there....Just kidding. I definitely want to pull one of those huge trout out of that lake. Enjoy your anniversary and have a blast! Post pictures... of the fish. Gosh (In a Napolean Dynamite voice as fishinislife would have put it)

Subaru did you guys make it out? If so, where to and how you do?
When you think you know it all, its time to quit. Knowledge should be gained on every trip.

Oh yeah, I can't pass up the chance to hit the lake. We just hopped on over to Tapps and gave our soft plastics a major case of Hypothermia. Water temp at 38-maybe 40. Nothing in the boat, maybe a good hookup by dike 12, but nothing on retrieve. Really foggy early. We launched out of the county park, found some very shallow areas, still kinda wimpy about them with my boat and all. Couldn't really get around until the fog burned off. A few other boats out, a jet sled and a jon. Marked what I thought were fish between 20-30 near a large drop off, but no bites. Still a lot of weeds in the lake, as we were pulling them up with our dropshots. Fun day though.

It was nice to get out on a rare sunny day and it did wonders for the ol' cabin fever. Now I remember why I normally brew beer this time of year instead of fishing - a hobby that includes two 155,000 BTU propane burners is good for 27-degree mornings.

the 2 kirkland "old-timers" know what they are doing, for sure. promised not to post report or pics, but, learned a valuable lesson about marking fish (always mark the bass/trout, never the schools of perch)on the big lake. i dont know how many times ive seen the same markings on my fishfinder, and, thought they were that green/brown crap that floats by. "chrome spoons" pimpled!!! thanks mark and red, hope to get out to citychurch, soon. leachim dahc- they are very deep, like you thought, my bad!
