Well I am going to throw this out there.
I am looking to replace my motorguide 54 lb 12v system with a 70-80 lb 24v as the 54lb has trouble with my 19' skeeter in the wind.
Motorguide vs Minn Kota, all opinions welcomed as to the best choice to install on my boat, and why?
I use my boat on the average of 4-5 days a week during the fishing season.
thank you

Minn Kota vs MotorGuide
I have $60,000 invested in a boat, motor, gear and baits all to catch a fish with a brain the size of a pea. I wouldn't have it any other way.

minn kota maxum - 80
works great on my bass boat
bought it a few weeks ago
I asked someone I trust, he said minn kota,
I've had motorguide for 23 plus years and only a couple problems but when I reaserched the stuff on cabellas and bass proshops it seems lots of people have been having trouble with the new motorguides
cabella's had a sale on the maxxum the other week, $100 off.

Re: Minn Kota vs MotorGuide
I've had both on my 21' Bullet (granted it was lighter than your Skeeter) and never experienced any issues with either. My advice would be to find what best fits the features you need like integration with your GPS/Sonar for GPS hold-on-spot, hold on depth, follow depth etc and work within your budget. Both have excellent warranties and can be serviced just about everywhere. For me it's a you-pick-em.
