WBL - Washington Bass League

Post by T Dot » Sun Sep 02, 2007 12:55 am

SUMMARY:
- fishing teams sharing bass fishing techinques on how to be more versitle.

FEES / COSTS:
- none

GOALS:
- to be a more vesitle bass catcher, not only as a person but as a boater as well
- in some cases those who own a boat, it is your job to put fish in the boat even if its not on your line

TEAMS:
- 3+ person teams
- ideally teams should consist of 3 or more peope, but under man teams will be allowed
- team members may consist of boaters, pontoons, tubers and the shore bound.

EQUIPMENT:
- ideal equipment should include the following
- rf radios
- digital scale
- digital camera

FISH WEIGHTS:
- to keep an on going tally of bass caught in each category.
- due to scales being off a few ounces here and there, all fish should be rounded down to the nearest pound

DATA:
- all data should be reset to zero every year.

PHOTOS:
- photo all catches should be made
- most of us on here would like to see those catches, with the picture being the proof
- my philosophy is no picture no proof, and a picture speaks a 1000 words

REPORTS:
- ideally a lake report should be made on your catches
- it is up to your team how much disclosure you provide on your catches
- obviously the more information you share the more it benifits everyone
- though there are some secrets that should be kept as well

LAKES:
- tbd

i figure if we have enough people we can fish a few lakes in the south, and a few lakes in the north, all the while swaping locations every other time. that way we fish a little of both areas, as some people reside in the north and some others in the south.

CATEGORIES:
- crankbait
- dropshot
- jig
- plastic
- spinnerbait
- topwater
- more categories to be added

:king:

SIGNATURE:
- all info should be kept in your signature
- that way we can follow your results from anywhere on the forums
- check my signature to see an example, i have added all the weights of the big fish we have caught in each category from this year

... more information to follow

HOW THIS IDEA CAME ABOUT:

if it wasnt for this site, i probably wouldnt be bass fishing. sorry to say its true. when first looking for bass lakes, all everyone said to me... is trout this trout that. half of those people didnt know what a bass was.

then along came www.washingtonlakes.com to fill in a small void.

:king:

from there i met a few 2 good friends who were pretty much in my situation. slowly but surely we have made our way through most of the lakes on this site.

we have been fishing off a boat for less than a year now, and have rarely visited a lake more than a few times. its a world of difference being on a boat. im amazed at myself how much i have learned in such little time.

the 3 of us always share new tips and tricks with each other. though i slowly learned that we only mimick each other, and our strengths and weaknesses are in the same general areas.

ive always wondered why some days would be awesome days, and some days we better off in front of the tv. so i decided to figure what everyone else was doing, while at the same time sharing my information with them.

from that thread i was able to follow what everyone was doing, and see how my techniques varied from them. i quickly found that even our confidence lure need to be put aside once in a while. thus i forced myself to move out of my comfort zone, and tried out new things. even the things i dreaded using. i coined those lures in my tackle box PAPER WEIGHTS. my friends followed suit, and we are trying to be more versitle in our pursuit.

in order to become better, we all got jon boats and have slowly modified them to our needs. i have found out that there are alot of electric only bass clubs and lakes out easy. being that we live in a green state, i was curious to why there werent more here. since there wasnt one, my friends and i joined

www.wabass.net

in that club we learned more about our surrounding lakes, and what lures worked best in certain situations. within the club there was a small group of smaller boats whiched fished electric only lakes quite frenquently. there were about 10 of us fishing on a weekly basis, but that only lasted a couple of months. after that we had to wait until next year came around.

i now have a list of 25+ people in the local area who have smaller boats, pontoons, tubes and even shore fish. i have yet to put the list to use, as i havent found enough appropriate lakes yet.

since creating that list, the forums have been added to this site, and has slowly grown. it will only grow larger as time progresses.

:king:

i have noticed that more and more people from seattle and its surrounding areas are on this list. most of us on here have fished the same lakes, and im sure we have seen each other on the lakes as well.

we all have our good days and bad days, and as the saying goes 2 heads are better than one. the story holds true with me and my fishing buddies, 3 heads are still not enough.
