OFFUT LAKE

Post by rjn cajun » Tue May 18, 2010 7:52 am

The family and I are thinking about going to Offut lake for memorial weekend to camp and me fish. I cannot find anything about what motors are allowed on the lake. I`m getting mixed answers some say it`s electric only and some say both. I e-mailed the resort and they told me electric only at the resort with a 5mph limit. Does that mean the lake is either the resort is just electric? If I camp there where do I launch my boat I have a trailer. If anyone can help I would appreciate it cause I can`t find an answer:scratch:

You can launch at the public boat launch on the north side of the lake.

I'm told there is a launch at the resort, but I didn't see it when I was there.

I could be wrong, but I think the 5mph speed limit is a local law (City or County?) but is 100% true. They want to keep it a fishing lake and keep the personal watercraft and wakeboard terrorists away.

Not sure about the internal combustion vs. electric. Go with what the resort lady told ya would be my recommendation.

If you are camping at the resort with a boat it is electric only. If you are doing a day trip and launch at the public launch there is no motor restriction but a 5 mph speed restriction. The resort just won't let you stay there if you have a boat that has a motor. They have had too many problems with gas spillage by the idiots so they had to make a rule...#-o The lake is pretty small I had no problem fishing the lake with electric motors. Send me a PM if you want some more info I fished that lake religiously when I lived in Oly.. :salut:
