Lake Goodwin County Park
As I was getting off the lake last night (at 7:30) the Park Ranger informed me that the Launch area's operating hours are from 7am to 7pm. Now I don't know about the rest of you but I do a lot of fishing before and after these hours. I mentioned to her that I like to night fish in the summer and she said no exceptions. She did mention that on tourmanment days she'll unlock the gate ate 6:30am if arrangments are made. I really don't know who to talk to about the hours of operation but she was mumbling something about cutbacks and layoffs as well. With hours like these I think the congestion at the launch will be brutal as the season wears on. What do you all think?

Lake Tapps county park has some messed up hours too. 7:30 am to 8:00 pm from April to Oct. then 7:30 to 4:00 pm from oct to dec. Last season they opened the gates at 6:00 am and didn't start charging to launch until 7:30 am . No such luck this year =( . 7:30 is a late start , but at least they extended the closing hours till 8pm. IMO these lakes should have a PUBLIC launch with NO FEE and dawn to dusk hours. Didn't we pay launching and parking fee's when we purchased our licenses ? Seems like all the big lakes worth fishing have a extra fee for launching and parking and crappy hours too boot .
In short ,, to tell you what I think of it ,, well , IT SUCKS ! lol .

She got down on us pretty hard already this year for coming in too late. Last year there was a guy who was the gate keeper and several times he let us come in late and we would close the gates behind us and he was totally cool with it. This year I don't believe there's anything we can do about it. I usually don't fish Goodwin or Stevens after May, because it's so screwed up with rec. boats and people. I know of at least one night fishing open bass tourney on Goodwin each year that looks like it would be fun.

Definitely missing the early bite...... and closing at 7pm!? I've fished until 9:30pm in late July and still had light enough to load the boat back up. That certianly sucks.

Tapps will ONLY be open until October 1st this year. April thru September seems to be the new plan there.
RE:Lake Goodwin County Park
Yup, they are definably cutting out the 2 most productive times to fish come summer. Most of the lakes are like that west of the mountains

Those are some crumby hours for sure. Expecially when it stays light out longer later in the season. 10pm sunset and pulling off a lake at 7 is still the heat of the day. Sounds like a lazy ranger to me. Or she like to go to bed early. Dawn to Dusk are much better hours of operations.

Goodwin used to be a State park now it is a county park. Remember last year when I asked how this would effect us...............Well the real dope is this. The State rangers used to live on site. If they left the gate unlocked and we used it after hours no big deal, the kids came in and started partying they call ed the sheriffs to come deal with it. The county rangers are badge carrying county sheriffs........they don't live on site. If the kids start partying guess who gets called at home to come deal with JR. Yes the county ranger/sheriff. It sucks real bad but this is the word I got from speaking a number of times with all 3 of the ranger/sheriffs. Our only real hope in this is............ that the lake is legal to fish at night and acesses has been taken away. It is most likely a problem to present to the wdfw if anyone knows how.

At Lake Goodwin there's a resort by the store, do they have a boat ramp?
Cast first, worry later.

Hey spindog, If that's the launch I'm thinking of, it's to shallow to get the boat off the trailer. I believe it's on a flat
