Re: Camping/Trout Fishing Lake for Family

I don't think anyone has mentioned Flowing Lake in Snohomish County either. It looks like it's got a nice little county run campground.

Re: Do I need to exchange my battery?

Yes, take it back. G-man provides some great advice. You have some options to choose from, but the cheapest will be a lead wet cell group 24 deep cycle "RV/Marine" battery. Specs will vary. You'll also want a good charger and, if you go with a lead wet cell, learn about % discharge/battery maintenan...

Happy to hear that! I'm glad it's not just me. Look forward to it. Thanks Aaron.

Re: Active forum topics button?

When ON the forum on a phone, there's a forum specific menu at the top labeled MENU. MENU > Advanced Search > Active Topics. Great! Thanks. I am getting used to the new website, and like it well enough on the desktop, but can't say I'm really liking the phone format. It seems very clunky trying to ...

Re: Metal detecting

You're more than welcome. I can't say I'm an expert, but have learned quite a bit since I got into it. I'm less knowledgeable of the saltwater machines, but there is a ton of info and some very helpful people on the Friendly Metal Detecting Forum site that I linked earlier in this thread. Of course,...

Re: Metal detecting

Unfortunately there are no general rules. Regulations vary between federal, state, county, and city lands and those are not always crystal clear. I find that most of the time I don't overthink it and just go out and have fun. I've never been asked to stop, but do educate myself on the rules wherever...

Re: Metal detecting

Metal detecting sounds like a fun hobby - something I've always thought about doing. My dad in SD metal detects old abandoned farms (with permission) he has found a lot of interesting stuff. Have any of you ever found a meteorite? What model would you suggest for a mid-range detector? For a mid-ran...

Re: Mukilteo boat ramp

May 14th for the docks, the ramps are in the water year round. It's a great launch if you do it right. Not a launch for a single person. It takes one in the boat and one in the rig. Back in fire it up and go. Same for picking passengers. Pull in to the shore or dock and jump and go. Not a launch fo...

Re: Suggestions for 10 yr old beginners dying to catch a fis

Pine Lake fishing pier up on the Sammamish Plateau. Will be crowded, but the lake opens next weekend for trout and (last Saturday of April) for trout and you'll be all but guaranteed to catch fish. Fourth Saturday in April - not the last Saturday this year! April 22 is opening day, April 29 is the ...

Re: fish finder for 12 smokercraft

Similar to Mark, I've had a couple simple black and white sonars on my 12, with the transducer mounted to a piece of 1x4 that I c-clamp to the stern and mount the head unit to a small piece of plywood that I can set on the seat in front of me. They're more for depth and seeing structure than actuall...

After using inflatable boats and an inflatable kayak I bought a hard body sit on top kayak last summer and have loved it ever since! I'm with AMX, but only if you can take the screw out of the clamp housing first....otherwise you risk destroying the mount altogether. Just my 2c.

Re: Kayak for sale?

Craigslist is a good place to find a used one. The other guys raise some good points. Is a Kayak the best option for what you want to do, and if so, then do you get a sit-in or sit-on-top? There are pros and cons to both. Where and what you're fishing for can help you answer those questions. I bough...

Re: Drive-up lake with a view of Mt. Rainier

You might try Clear Lake just north of Eatonville just off of SR 161. There are some great views of Rainer from that lake and the public boat launch would be on the correct side of the lake for the view, but I can't say if you have much of a view from the boat launch itself. Maybe someone here can c...
