For about 3 weeks or so the pier had a lot of them it seemed. They came in after the herring and the zillion shakers came arrived, around or after September 30th when Rock Fish closed in area 9. That was the point I was trying to make I guess that and the limit was only 1 to the guy in question.

It is usually better in the morning - first light. White early. Green works. I've been catching black mouth and silvers on Pink/white. Try and be there an hour before tide changes to an hour after for best luck... but even that rule doesn't hold much water at the pier. I have to agree with Wolverine...

Like Littleriver said - Its more important to bleed the fish than to ice it. However icing the fish does reduce the chance of bacteria affecting the meat of the fish. Texture and consistancy of the meat is better preserved when put on ice right away than if not put on ice at all.
