RE:EDMONDS SQUID?
Under normal seasons this would be the time to start seeing squid off the pier. Heck of days long past - somewhere during the 90's you would see both the inside and outside half of the pier loaded with people squiding. Generators everywhere and it made the combat fishing days of August look like not...

RE:steelhead fishing !
We see em do swim bys but I don't think I've ever heard or seen anybody catch any. If anybody has it would be interesting to hear how they did catch one. Taking this off topic for a nano second. The Unocal Pier south of the Edmonds fishing pier is scheduled to be removed between 11/24/2008 to March...

RE:Question for those that jig for salmon.
As stated earlier you can catch them in the winter but you get to work even harder for them than you did off the pier during the summer. I've caught 2 in the past 2 weeks that were keepers and 4 that were just shy of. Not the biggest fan of Buzz Bombs but like the Zingers - just wish I could find so...

Question for those that jig for salmon.
:-" For those of you that fish off of piers using jigs I ask the following question. What is your favorite jig either currently available or long ago discontinued? And what color worked best for you? If a you were targeting a particular type of Salmon (Coho, Chinook, Chum) what one has worked the be...

RE:Dorado/Mahi Mahi/Dolphin Fish caught off Oregon Coast
When I was in Oregon on a Salmon fishing charter a couple years ago the charter captain told a story of how he one day saw a school of tuna running through within 5 miles of the shore while taking some customers out. They passed the Tuna and he eventually put the salmon gear down and the trolled aro...

RE:Largemouth fishing in lake ballinger (snohomish county)
I've only seen one person catch a bass at Ballanger (evil lake that it is to me anyways). It was a small mouth I believe caught on a bass jig where the fisherman was casting towards the lilly pads off of the dock at the park. There use to be some good size bass in Echo lake just south of Ballanger. ...

RE:Commercial Fishing.
Trust me I'm not too happy when I see Commercial Trawlers or long line nets, tribal or non tribal, wandering around the Puge Sound. Too much fish by-catch product occurs (or whatever the right term is) happens in Alaska and would have to be about as bad here as well. This years problems in regards t...

RE:Edmonds Pier - Guide to Bottomfishing
For about 3 weeks or so the pier had a lot of them it seemed. They came in after the herring and the zillion shakers came arrived, around or after September 30th when Rock Fish closed in area 9. That was the point I was trying to make I guess that and the limit was only 1 to the guy in question.

RE:Edmonds Pier - Guide to Bottomfishing
About 5 to 7 years ago I was asking a Game Warden at the Edmonds Pier who was nice enough to answer my questions regarding bait while he was inspecting the hook on my jig. My first question did refer to the use of Rock Cod as bait for Ling or other bottom fish. He basically said no you can't because...

RE:Largemouth fishing in lake ballinger (snohomish county)
Not to be a pain in the back side but this should have been in the freshwater forum unless somebody replaced the water normally found in Ballanger with salt water. Which reminds me a game warden came to the Edmonds pier a few weeks ago checking licenses and one person only had a fresh water license ...

RE:Edmonds Pier - Guide to Bottomfishing
Quick reminder the use of a "food fish" like a rock cod live or dead can not be used as bait for Ling Cod per the Fish and Game department - whom I asked that question to a few years ago as I felt it too would be a good bait. The big problem is that a) low rock cod numbers in area 9 as they mature s...

RE:Edmonds Pier Summer Chinook and Coho
It is usually better in the morning - first light. White early. Green works. I've been catching black mouth and silvers on Pink/white. Try and be there an hour before tide changes to an hour after for best luck... but even that rule doesn't hold much water at the pier. I have to agree with Wolverine...

RE:Edmonds Pier Summer Chinook and Coho
The Coho have been hit and miss down at the pier the last few years. In years of past you could go to the north end of the dock and drift herring and have good success. Buzz bombs worked for me at the pier for Coho but as you likely know you better be paying attention to the buzz bomb on the way dow...

Hey we forgot one option in the choices.
The one WITH the wedding ring (my wife) allowing me to go chase after Cutthroat or trout or anything that swims in the first place :D
I think I'm going with all the above.

RE:anyone squidding yet?
Where are people catching them now? I haven't seen anyone squiding in Edmonds. Last year I didn't go because I couldn't find my squid jigs after I had secretly and stupidly hid them from myself. After I moved to my new house I found the jigs and now nobody is bringing any light to the pier (I don't ...

RE:Fishing off of Edmonds Pier
As Dave said on the baits. In past years I would fish the pier on a daily basis. Today however was only my second time at the pier this year. Was told that the fishing so far this year has been slow with few Ling cod and fewer salmon so far. We all hope that will turn around. North side of the dock ...

RE:Chilling fish
Like Littleriver said - Its more important to bleed the fish than to ice it. However icing the fish does reduce the chance of bacteria affecting the meat of the fish. Texture and consistancy of the meat is better preserved when put on ice right away than if not put on ice at all.
