Nope, almost no pike into the shallows on Roosevelt yet. I've fished the mouths of the Colville and Kettle rivers 5 times in the last month and nothing. One pike was caught at the Colville but it must have been a lost loner. Mouth of the Colville R. is coffee BROWN! Got to get into April a ways.

Fishing in Minnesota this week. 116 pike up to 31 inches/7lbs, 10oz. Bringing my total to 125 for the year. I won't be a winner but real nice to be in the "century club".

The Curlew tournament is completed. One tiger 44.25 inch muskie was caught in the tournament by Mike Crisanti.

Targeted pike on the Columbia this weekend. Trying to solve the puzzle of where they disperse to after spring shallows spawning. Finally found a superb 8 lb fighter. As good as any I've caught. Just got back from 3 days at CDA chain lakes. Fished two lakes hard. Got 3 pike in 3 days. Biggest 24". One other member got a 26". Pretty tough going with that miserable 'wire weed' all chocked in and outside the cabbage strips. Terrible stuff. You can only fish outside the weeds and hope some wand...

I've found that using a net works better than just "touching the leader"....ha, Just kidding. Its nice to find those bigger ones. They really add to the excitement of pike fishing.

Muskyhunter--yes, we appreciate the Tiger support from those and other biologists from WDFW. Without that the tiger program might die an easy death from the bad vibes from other fishermen.

We had a very nice little tournament. 10 boats, 20 fishermen. Largest was 38 1/2" (190 bucks!). Seven fish over 30" and a couple under. Nice warm day in the 70s and moderate wind. One 39 1/2" tiger was left on the bank by a benevolent bass fisherman. So that in a way was the big fish of the day........

Well, finally got the pikeometer started yesterday for 2016. Got a 29 inch x 5 1/2 lb. nice politically incorrect pike out of the' Columbia near Kettle Falls. It was great--pulling line all over. Like Babe Winkleman says "there ain't nuttin like big pike fishing, nuttin like it!".

That proves it--everything is a predator--including me!!
