Re: RE:How big is this fish???

Today I caught a bass that was 23" length and 16" girth, my personal best. Using those numbers, a website estimator says 8.3 lbs. Any opinion if that weight is fairly accurate? Did you get a picture ? Either way, you'll never know the truth  Buy a quality digital scale, around $30 dependin...

I bought a cheap tripod at Rite Aid a couple years ago. it has the thumb screw that fits in the bottom of most point and shoot cameras and it telescopes down small enough to easily fit in my tiny glove box. A priceless investment.

RE:Baitcaster Help

i agree, loading the rod properly is the most critical thing that most people overlook. Making a smooth casting motion is the key to not backlashing. If you try to whip that thing like a spinning setup you are boned. Also i don't recommend spinnerbaits as a first lure on a baitcaster because of thei...

RE:Roosevelt Walleye

I've had decent luck dragging jigs on the Spokane river side of the bridge that goes to the casino, basically straight across from the Fort Spokane boat launch. There's a huge weedy area over there. We follow the contour line about 15-20 feet with a 3/8 ounce jig tipped with a yamamoto single tail g...

RE:Local Bass origins

Pikeminnow were very likely among the apex predators, though I don't believe I've ever caught one on anything but a river or reservoir. Not sure how many ever existed in lakes. From the WDFW website: "Before the late 1800s, the only resident freshwater fish living in Washington State were trout (cut...

RE:locating bass beds

Definitely beds in the lilies, especially in clear water lakes I've found. I think the bass like the partial shade they provide, much like a bed near a dock or laydown that's in the shade for at least part of the day.

2 baitcasting setups FS

I have for sale, two Bass Pro Shops XPS Extreme combos. reels: one 7.1:1 and one 6.4:1 with flippin' switch. the 7.0 is 4 years old and the 6.4 is 3 years old. both have a little boat rash but are in otherwise great working condition. both are right hand retrieve. rods: both rods are Woo Daves XPS E...

RE:Smallies VS. Largies

I prefer the fight of a largemouth. They are better in terms of pure weight on the line. Smallmouth tend to go more ballistic in terms of up and down and side to side, but a largemouth in shallow water will try to bury itself in whatever's on the bottom and trying to horse them out of it is the most...

RE:Condition of Bass on stringers

So, if someone is showing pics of multiple bass over 17 inches on a stringer or from a livewell, is that illegal? Seems so. Yes and no. If you get caught with 2 or more overs (17"+) in your livewell, you will get a fine, period. it's illegal. HOWEVER, if I catch an over, put it in the livewell, the...

RE:New Basser needs suggestions on bait casting set ups

I have 2 Revo S reels that I use for pitching because of their ridiculous drag pressure. Most times when i hook a fish while pitching, under absolutely no circumstances do I want that fish to pull any drag. if you tighten the drag down on a Revo S your line will almost surely break before your drag ...

RE:Rod and Reel Warranty experience

In my experience Bass Pro Shops has been great. They're an authorized repair facility for a lot of major brands, not to mention their excellent house brand rods and reels. If something happens to your rod or reel within a year of purchasing it, they'll fix it no questions asked.

RE:Fishing Reports

If I can play Devil's advocate here, it only takes one or two times where you share your favorite stretch of bank, or a specific rock pile or laydown that you really like, then the next time you pull up to it there's a boat already there and some guy holds up a dead 5 lber tied to a rope, or maybe h...

RE:Wind And Waves

When the wind and waves start to pick up I'm usually heading right for a nice weedline with the wind blowing into it. My favorite is a big lily pad field where a submerged grass bed runs into it. Those bass sit right on that edge with something over their heads just like they like it, waiting for th...

RE:Catfishing around Spokane area? WHERE?

Sprague had some monster cats in it before they poisoned it. They netted some big ones and put them back in afterwards so it could be worth a try. Probably not nearly as good as it used to be though.

Mostly ewg gama superline hooks, usually a 4/0 or 5/0. Thats the only hook I have found that has not bent on me yet. Ditto. I do use a lot of 3/0 though for sweet beavers. Your line will break before these hooks bend. Period. I've pulled half a tree off the bottom and the hook looks like it just ca...

cda is only for those who live in that area, fish that lake, or maybe know something about that lake. I'm none of those, so cda means nothing to me, I've always used the full name. Sounds like a you problem. I happen to live in the area and fish that lake quite often, so it's good to know I have yo...

RE:Eastside Bass Tournaments

Hmmm, seems to be a good guess. Thanks. But not all of us do that stupid texting crap. It's called abbreviating long proper nouns with lots of capital letters and apostrophes actually, and using CDA for Coeur D' Alene is quite common. You must spell out United States of America instead of using USA...

I forgot to mention the lake is at summer pool so you can easily launch at the river, although the current gets a bit dicey when the water's coming over the dam like it is right now.

i was gonna say if this guy is behind these lures, his gear tells me pretty much all I need to know. is that a ML action rod too? he must have just cut his drop shot off to fish that frog.
